Coulda Woulda Shoulda: When Life Makes You Miss Multi-Day Breakouts & Some Other Stocks To Watch
Fess Up Time: Don’t ya hate when you put a stock on your watchlist, tell yourself you’ll trade it if it acts a certain way, but when that special price action occurs, for some reason, you’re not watching it? I’m sure there are those out there who don’t make such bush league mistakes, but I’m not one of them.
Thanks to the popularity of my latest AOL article—about how Amazon has tried blackmailing small publishers like me–I’ve been talking to a couple of reporters—surprise—and much of that talk happens during the trading day, causing me to miss more than a few potential trades. Oh yeah and incessant blogging doesn’t help.
Now, I hate buying breakouts—they move too slowly, happen to stocks that are too expensive or retrace/fakeout too often, so out of all the stocks below I really only regret missing out on NCEN, because that my friends is the f&^$en Mona Lisa of technical breakouts
NCEN–probly going to $3+, easy easy easy easy easy easy easy easy easy 30-50 cents/share, or 10-20%, buy on the intraday break of $2.50, predictable predictable predictable predictable predictable gain. An infinitely better trader than me, Fous, nailed it again. (I’m not only an affiliate, I’m even considering signing up for his stock picking service!) As did some of my DVD students…those who can’t do, teach!

SOLF—nice multi-day breakout, but where to now? Solid resistance in the high $15s

Screw April’s Fools Day: There’s Work To Be Done, No Time For Jokes
Let the clowns have their fun, this isn’t a game, it’s business. Leave the gun, take the cannoli. No mercy. No compassion. No trust. Only profit. Quicker you learn that the better.

Today looks like a higher open, good—all these broker/bank peddler scum are announcing mammoth losses, but even they can’t screw up what’s turning out to be a perfect bottom at Dow 12k. To be more exact, a solid hold of Dow 11,700—the former 2000 high it took us 7 years to breakout of. Can you say perfect retest? Maybe too simplistic, but simple works. I’m just happy I bought VWELX in my retirement account a few days ago.
Here are some microcrapper runners, none of which are nearly as perfect or multi-day as yesterday’s batch, but let’s give em a chance to see what they can do. We’re equal opportunity short sellers here…
(NEON)—which I summarized a few weeks ago

Short Selling Stocks: Plays Galore Limited By Absurd Pattern Day Trading Rule aka SEC Reign Of Terror
As I posted early this morning, there were lots of potential shorts today, but I had to be extra-choosy due to the SEC’s reign of terror over accounts under $25k (explanation down below).

Awoke early and reserves shares of my favs—placing my sell limit orders waaay high, intent on lowering them if and when any became good plays:
-300 ASTI @16.99 LMT
-300 GU @16.99 LMT
-1000 BPAX @5.99 LMT
-1000 REED @4.99 LMT
-1000 QBIK @3.99 LMT
Didn’t even need to reserve any COT, it was listed as easy to borrow. But my top pick was REED, and I was hoping—somewhat naively—to get a morning spike to short into…no such luck. It went down quickly, bounced, down again, blah whatever, volume for the day was 60k, spread between bid and ask was 20-40 cents, no thanks. Next!
BPAX—no morning spike there either—disappointing. Had the chance to short my 1,000 shares into a quickly disappearing block at $4.39, but I hate shorting morning droppers, too high risk of reversal, so I hesitated and it passed me by, on its way to $4.10-ish. Missed out on $200 profit, but if it’d held $4.39, it could’ve easily spiked, risk of $200-$400 loss, not a good risk-reward. As evidenced by its surprising afternoon comeback all the way to unchanged—this is not a typical hype play. Next!
Hot Stocks: 7 Solar Stocks To Day Trade aka How I Will Short Them!
(SOLF)—up 50% in 5 days, solid resistance at $15, but solid earnings today means the short side is limited, although it’s tough to be bullish either…let’s see how the pattern plays out, I’ll update tomorrow

(SOL)—another 50% gainer within a few days, solid earnings gainer today, nice sideways action between $11.50 and $12, that’ll either turn out to be nice support or resistance, tough to be short until that breaks

(AKNS)—now up 75% off its lows, today the shorts got squeezed by a magazine article mention, now this is some news to short into—financial journalism is a total joke! Nice short into resistance at $8

7 Low Priced Microcraps Creeping Their Way Higher
Now, I’m not playing any of these just yet, I like my microcraps to have risen 100-300% within a few days so these plays have their work cut out to truly interest me. Buuuuuuuut you still gotta put ‘em on your watchlist, just in case.
FNAT—waaaaay too low for me to play/care about but the chart is a great example of what I look for if this stock was trading 100x, aka it goes from $1 to $8

JYHW—methinks it’ll be ready shortly for a biiiiiiiiig 1-2 day dump, just as it did last time it ran up so steeply, kinda like CVSC, which I featured HERE the day before its biiiiig drop and is now trying to rebound from some BSC-like tankage!

4 New Plays…Definitely No COINs…Not Yet Anyway
Now that COIN and COINW have tanked a remarkable 26% and 40%, respectively, in 2 days, making me sick to my stomach for taking my wimpy little 8% profit, it’s time to move on to new microcrap winners (COIN is donezo for me right now, I don’t try to guess big rebounds, once the bottom falls out, bounces are met by constant bitter naive sellers who bought higher…once COIN settles down though, it’s a prime candidate for a slow multi-day/week bleed back to the single digits, aka destiny, sorry pumpers, you did your jobs well, lemme know what stock you soulless bastards move onto next, gratzie!)

There are thousands of microcraps and smallcraps out there, so how do I narrow my watchlist down each day? I just look for the most volatile stocks—namely those big daily % gainers—out there, ideally, those up on fluff news. Here are four that caught my eye over the weekend
Where The Volatility Is, aka 5 Potential PennyStocking Plays
Sten Corp. (STEN) is the latest microcrapper to go exponential. It’s a thinly traded, low float debt laden ($9mil) $10-$15mil company (depending on whether the last price was at the bid or the ask!) up on “strong earnings”. Who really knows what’s going on with the company’s business—with companies this small, one little sketchy deal could be the turning point. I’ll look to short if it spikes again $2+ in 10 minutes like it did this morning. Who knows if I can even find shares to short.

7 Stocks You Shouldn’t Trade, Long Or Short
Nothing particularly special, but that’s no reason not to get to know some messy chart patterns…aka learn what kind of chart patterns NOT TO PLAY!
A few weeks ago, AsiaInfo Holdings Inc. (ASIA) reported great earnings, now it’s consolidating…blehhhhhh…this stocks loves to breakdown after spiking, but now has positive news for a change. 50/50 up or down, leave this one alone.

Converted Organics (COIN) is full of pumpers and recently executed a perfect double top at $14, but it still broke out of a multi-week base in the $9-$11 range. Wait for it to prove itself above $14 or for the bottom to fall out…until then leave this to the pumpers and suckers.

Some Signs Of Life In Several Small Caps
Long 200 APWR @ $18.46 Overnight
Speech at the Trader’s Expo went incredibly well yesterday, some people came from as far away as Maryland just to hear me speak, or so they say. Some company recorded it so I’m sure they’ll be offering it shortly, Powerpoint presentation and all, not sure if it’ll be overpriced, but probly.

Stupid Media Fight: CNBC vs. Barrons over Cramer
Nature Vision (NRVN), a POS little $4 mil company with average daily volume under 10,000 doubled today, no shares available to short, action reminds me of Grand Toys (GRIN) the other day, which I missed filming with CBS. Unlike GRIN though I couldn’t find any NRVN to short today, not that I wanted to really, waaaay too scary, but the odds of success get much better if it becomes a 2-3 day runner, squeezing the early shorts

I nailed NCOC's 20% rise today in my pre-market post, but I was too biased against buying little breakouts, learn from my mistakes!
