10 Hot Stocks & Other Cynical Views On The Trashy World Of Penny Stocks

Tags: Hot Stocks, Manipulation, Potential Plays

VRML Still 1,300 Shares short @ $3.75
LGDI

Both are supernovas, LGDI near its highs, but VRML still up waaay more %-wise…both have fading volume, both can still squeeze shorts even though they’ll probly fail. I’m short VRML cuz it’s up on stock promoters, ill-researched media story and best of all the company is a truly failing biotech microcrap in the same vein as REED, VION, DARA and PSTI—each of which also jumped 200%+ and have now retraced ALL of their gains (PSTI is only halfway, but give its also the newest)

VRML coulda woulda shoulda gone negative on the day, cracking the key $3.40 yesterday, but they smartly issued a fluffy PR I won’t dignify linking to (they formed a committee)(you think they don’t know that would squeeze some shorts c’mon, this is the beauty of pumping–they don’t have actual business to tie them down, their business is getting the stock up!…still, after an initial spike, very nice gradual downtrending all day, great sign, sooner or later, we’ll get some panic selling

HDSN
You can’t stop this air conditioner play (seriously) after it just reported solid earnings…good for 25 cents/share intraday peaks and valleys, if you’re into that sort of thing

OIL
Woooo $125, I don’t care. I hope it goes to $1,000, then we’ll get plenty of great oil pump and dumps and our short selling View definition in a new window profits will be that much greater when the whole world is in the midst of a crippling depression!

A Short Seller’s Dozen: What Stocks Get Pumped, Must Come Down, Usually

VRML Short 1,300 @$3.75
LGDI
SUNV

Getting up bright and early, I reserved shares in all three of these stocks to possibly short today, not knowing which I’d actually short. LGDI didn’t even trade for 5 minutes and when it did, it moved slower than an under-cooked lobster. SUNV didn’t breach the key $1.20 level until the afternoon (when I had no trades left), so it was all about VRML.

I wanted to short into strength cuz it was a classic short covering rally from yesterday’s $1.75 pullback off the highs…given the magnitude of the declines and that it’s still up 300+% in a few days—on an ill-researched story thinking this near bankrupt company will do anything but go under—meant short sellers would be aggressive. Afraid I’d miss the probable pullback, I jumped the gun too early, shorting 1,300 shares at $3.75…as I watched it hang around $3.90 x $4 for another 30 min, I wasn’t very worried as the big buyer blocks were only on the bids—the wall of sellers at $4 never in danger of cracking—a clear sign of pumpers trying to scare up buyers/short covering…inevitably, the volume faded, the bids disappeared and the stock spent the day chomping gradually away at its early gains, few buy orders at the ask. I’d call it a perfect crack of sideways price action in the $3.60 range, but it still managed to finish up on the day, so it’ not totally perfect…just yet.

Despite my poor timing, I’ve got a nice $380 profit so far, I let it ride overnight cuz I think it goes under or around $3 today or tomorrow, possible big stop loss panic if it take out $3, might get to cover at $2.60-$2.75ish if I’m lucky.

VNDA
Nice gradual fade, but not my ideal PennyStocking short, too tight a chart/variables not fraudulent enough to squeeze one in

BDCO
Everyone’s goin crazy over an 18 cent gain, leme know when it gets to $3, until then jewwwww noooo

LGDI
Still on watch for a break under $4, gonna be tough to do from here, today at least, actually consolidated well until the last 5 minutes…still wouldn’t be surprised to see a big 50 cent-$1 upwards spike or at least that’s what I be praying for, oh yah man!

VRML
Mistake of the millennium yesterday, still gonna be volatile

ASIA
Now that’s a breakout…PennyStocking DVD student and upcoming grandmaster Tony Ellis kindly alerted everyone to this and then proceeded to make a quick $1,200 in 3 minutes…That’s right, the DVD preaches that you should these pieces of junk on breakouts, too—just as I did with COIN back a few months ago during a live radio interview

CSIQ
Trying to do the same kind of breakout—doesn’t interest me in the least, would require waaaaay too much precious buying power

SUNV
Finally a stock that doesn’t require much buying power—but it does waste a precious trade, a double jewww yahhhh f$%# you to my friends over at the SEC for that one! Volume’s fading though…gotta crack $1.25 to have any chance

Why Dennis Gartman Is A Classy Pump And Dumper & Some Other Hot Stocks

Tags: Breakdowns, Hot Stocks, Manipulation, Patterns To Short, Potential Plays, Short Squeezes

COIN
Yup, that old “classy” pump and dumper Dennis Gartman is at it again—re-adding this company with ZERO revenues (and even though they have PRs for everything including partnering with charities but can’t seem to find the time to put out ANY quarterly earnings PRs!)….last time he recommended this in Barorns right around the same price, the stock spiked and he admittedly sold into that strength, c’mon Garty, do your little song and dance routine again so you can pump and dump one more time! (SEC: I gotta remind you underpaid overworked fellas that original Barrons article was such a blatant case of stock manipulation—COIN was the only stock under $1 billion in marketcap). At least true bottom of the barrel penny pumpers don’t hide what they really are—they know they are scum—Gartman does—that makes him a typical industry villain!

Shorts don’t even think about it yet, yes, you might be able to scalp it, but never underestimate a scam of a company whose charts has now determinedly bottomed at $8 and $9…just not much downside here…short-term at least

BSHF
Totally screwed this one up yesterday, went short into a morning dip, looking for an outright panic, didn’t get it, 2 hours too early, seriously, so close, covered for a $90 loss…detailed post coming…when you know you have a busy day, just don’t trade—99 times out of 100, trading takes priority, but since launching this new site today was non-negotiable (and as you can see we’ve still got a ton of bugs to work out), wasting a day watching this stock wasn’t an option…stupid trade, even if it is a great example of how well shorting spa stocks works

PWSV
A spam stock breaking out higher…great example of why I take my profits quickly and don’t stick around to wait for hte FBI to bust in (they’re slow)

VM
To prevent me from trading—yes, it really is that much of an addiction—I turned my trading software off yesterday afternoon, missing this stunning beauty of fader…never say my readers ain’t smart, resident wise ass Ben Bien nailed this in the TIMforums before it dropped big–too bad he didn’t have a Thinkorswim account to short it though! Brand the chart below into your brains. Summary: solid multi-day runner, big-time short squeeze View definition in a new window/rumors yesterday, you wanna short when that squeeze starts to fade (although I don’t like rumor stocks), in the afternoon when it cracks the $4.60 range

LNG
Another stock I missed rolling over, over the painnnnnnnnn

GST
Strong little sucker, remember, don’t even think about shorting until you see the whites of their eyes!

CDY
Spiked a few weeks ago, retraced, now it’s spiking even higher…gotta be careful with these, already sucked/squeezed a few short sellers out there

KTCC
Up on strong earnings, sure there might be some retracing going on, but I don’t short small stocks that put up big earnings, obviously the odds of giant success are still against them, but they’re putting up a good fight

Parabolic Stock Chart Of The Day: Unisource Energy Corp (UNS)

Tags: Breakouts, Chart Of The Day, Hot Stocks, Potential Plays, Short Squeezes

Overworked as I’ve become, I really appreciate it when you readers alert me to some solid opportunities. Today’s chart of the day comes courtesy of InvestorsLive (see MarketKid, that’s how you link when you feature someone else’s idea on your blog!)

Rather expensive, fundamentally sound, tied to commodity prices and slow moving for TIM to play, nonetheless, I consider all surging stocks as potential shorts…just gotta be extra careful on this one as its managed to take out 9-month resistance, then again, it has gone parabolic so we could see some conso0lidation soon…

To Short Sell Or Not To Short Sell, That Is The Question

Tags: Breakdowns, Breakouts, Hot Stocks, Patterns To Avoid, Patterns To Short, Potential Plays

There are a great many microcraps surging—some look to be potential shorts, while others, you just gotta sit back and watch them play out:

As I’ve repeatedly posted, I’m short (EDEN) cuz it’s the perfect mix: failing company, quick spike followed by gradual fade and most importantly, the spike was caused by erroneous reporting. Forget about guessing games, TheStreet.com handed this to us on a silver platter!

TIGR’s still great to short, but good luck finding shares!

PDO and MXC Two little oil plays that are spiking, be very careful, remember, they’re not pure pumps as they are tied to that strongly performing commodity (that ain’t easy to short…remember the KOG…which itself is breaking above recent highs aka not a short!)

ENT is another small energy outfit trying to spike here, although its spike is rather gradual as it’s seemingly going for a cup and handle breakout…not a short!

Speaking of not shorts, FEED, WSCI and UFPT can never seem to go down—when stocks go up 4, 5, 6, 7 days in a row, they’re obviously not one time pump and dumps and they can go a lot further than you’d ever expect—take a look at this GENC chart below to see what I mean!

Rounded Up A Bunch Of The Usual Suspects

Tags: Potential Plays

Goood Monday morn, rounded up a bunch of the usual jokers…at least usual since last week…some could be setting up for something worth my time / capital, we’ll see:

(RDTA) now (TIGR) As I detailed HERE, this is the top stock I’m watching this week, hopefully my typically cynical article hasn’t scared away too any suckers yet! (not ideal…yet)

(EDEN) Remember this guy from last week? Yah, tough to forget, let’s see how many shares we can find to short—woah there got 2,000 borrowed and reserved—nice but I hate these low marketcap plays (not ideal)

(PWSV) Nice first down day, perfect afternoon fade included…too bad I couldn’t find any shares, no biggie, these things are too illiquid (not ideal)

(DGLY) People wanna short this, why? You might scalp a few cents, but it’s a perfect breakout on solid fundamental news…no no no kids too little downside (not ideal)

(ASIA) A TE special, might breakout this week, or it might be waiting until 2012 to do so

(ISRG) Big ass triple top on only decent earnings, good lesson in why you wait for the breakout, you don’t try to anticipate it…good avoidance

Hot Stocks: A Bunch Of Mediocre Wannabes aka Stocks Not Gone Wild

Tags: ANALysts, Analogies, Hot Stocks, Potential Plays

No ideal trade setups, just getting bored by a bunch of mediocre chicks

(GOOG) Great earnings, gotta respect the after-hours stock gains, optimistic people looking for an excuse…but be careful–$200 million in one-time currency gains—without it, wouldn’t be such a blowout…too pricey a stock to matter to TIM, but just be a little weary here.

(FEED) Just cuz I said this is a typical smallcap raising capital at inflated prices, doesn’t mean those inflated prices will deflate anytime soon. Classic finance idiots gotta learn to read—what are you guys a bunch of typically coked out Wall Street ANALysts View definition in a new window?—I also explained that whoever bought the $10 million at $16 now has a huuuuge incentive to pump the stock. It’s called a balanced blog post, deal with it suckas!

(MMTIF) Still watching this TRUE pump and dump, again doesn’t mean I’m gonna short it—pump and dumps can last much longer than anyone expects, as (MXFD) shorts have learned the hard way

Travelling Most Of The Day But Here Are 5 Hot Penny Stocks To Watch

Tags: DVD, Manipulation, Potential Plays, Short Selling, So Hot Right Now

Can you guess what my take is on these ? That’s right Pinky, it’s the same thing we do every night–short sell hyped up pump and dumps when they go negative on the day right before the market close. Of course they have to be up enough first, otherwise we just stalk. And remember, (SMI) is news-related and (BEXP) is a hardcore breakout so those really have to surge more / fade perfectly to tempt me…I’m no hurry on any of these, I’m gonna let them come to me…

6 Small Cap Plays: Natural Gas Stocks Are White Hot

Tags: Breakouts, Patterns To Buy, Potential Plays

(BEXP) If I wasn’t such a wus at buying breakouts—preferring to short later, this would be the play…4 million shorts getting squeeeeezed

(PSTI) Another day, another multi-billion dollar drug market mentioned by the company, what could go wrong? Respect the pump but don’t believe the hype–we’re talking pre-clinical here, motor oil works at that stage, doesn’t mean it’ll stand up when they actually start testing humans! Risk-reward of shorting this sucker here, well, sucks…pray for a big short squeeze View definition in a new window, don’t get squeezed yourself
