Feel Good Friday: Nailing A Perfect Short Sale On Vermillion, Inc. (VRML)
Was I bitter that a stupid mistake cost me between $750 and $1,000 in missed profits the first time VRML squeezed the shorts (as I posted helping other, not knowing I was already short!)? You bet I was! Was I going to let it influence my future trades on that stock or any other? Hell no!
So, after surging pretty much straight from $1 to $5, back down to $3 and then squeezing a few over confident shorts to $4 in a few days all on an ill-researched media story, on Wednesday, I posted how I shorted 1,300 VRML (all I could find) at $3.75, a little too early, but I was confident since I knew this thing would be volatile and shorts would be aggressive.
A few hours into my short, when it was a typical 25 cent profit (as you know I take too many of those) in the $3.50 range, I posted how I was gonna have patience on this one and cover under $3 cuz it was one of the few truly ideal PennyStocking Supernovas to pop its trashy head up in the past few months, even if as I also noted that this was the 3rd great shortable penny stock
action in as many days (LGDI which I made $350 on and VRML round one, where I screwed up and lost $180, even while calling it perfectly for readers!)
Stop Trading So Much And Enjoy TIMpics, Talking Photos!

Since incredible trading opportunities like LGDI today (see my reasoning / the play-by-play of my imperfect yet supremely profitable trade in THIS post /comments section) don’t come about every day, I decided this newly redesigned website would not only feature hardcore market / trading content, but also funny stuff, meant to occupy your time during market hours so you’re not tempted to trade the random crap, while also sending you subliminal messages to get you to buy my instructional DVD PennyStocking and book An American Hedge Fund…just kidding…or am I?
Without further bloated introduction, I give you TIMpics! Forget about just regular photos—those are so 1990—these pictures have cool software that allows me to add audio bubbles so you can hear those pictured express their innermost feelings. Get ready cuz these are just the first batch…and soon you’ll be able to upload your own, winning TIMbucks / prizes for the funniest ones…
The Peak—this was it, I coulda woulda shoulda short sold my life that night
Trading The Latest Hot Beverage Stock: Skinny Nutritional (SKNY.OB)
Skinny Nutritional (SKNY.OB) (oxymoronic?) just launched the latest zero calorie water brand, Skinny Water, lured in some third-tier Coca Cola executive to serve on their board, basically entirely for his title (giving him 2mil shares–and many others many millions more–while unsuccessfully / humorously / amateurishly trying to ticker spam that announcement to get included in the Yahoo! news of Coca-Cola bottling (COKE), Pepsi (PEP) and of course Coca Cola (KO) (silly pumpers, for some strange reason, you guys haven’t read my book An American Hedge Fund, if you had, you’d know ticker spam is for kids…back in 1999-2000!), all the while trying to pitch themselves as the next Vitamin Water.

Stock Market Opportunities Come And Go Quickly aka Always Be On The Prowl
No trades today, just a review of all the microcrap happenings…no matter how hungover or how many meetings/chores/classes you have, always always always review and prowl the landscape for potential opportunities

Isn’t that pretty? Awww almost as pretty as VVTV, MALL and HALO spiking at the open, now up just a little, breakdowns still possible, but justifying my decision to cut my shorts so quickly yesterday…little losses on the screen/website aren’t pretty, but they’re prettier than big losses kinda, more short sellers should learn to trade so scared…maybe then the category as a whole wouldn’t put up such god awful numbers all the time!
How To Short Sell These 6 Spiking Stocks
MALL—options expiration-related surge in the last fifteen minutes before the market close on Friday, coulda woulda shoulda shorted into that madness, but no telling where it’d stop, already down $2+ in after-hours, should be a nice short this week, back down to the $10-11 range, might be tough to borrow shares though

VVTV—same options expiration-type move, already retraced half its gain in after-hours on Friday, we’ll see if it returns right back to $5 within the next few days

Why This Bear Market Isn’t Scary At All!

If you rid yourself of your optimistic biases and play by the charts, bear markets can be surprisingly easy to navigate. In fact, I had a nice little 4% gain on the week. That’s right, these microcrap momos don’t care about the overall market, they’ll continue to spike irrationally because it’s in the interest of microcrap companies/shareholders to do so!
I mixed perfect with decent and ugly trades, but gains are gains, especially since they helped TIM finish up nearly 15% for February, handily beating the 3, 4 and 5% monthly losses for the Dow, S&P and Nasdaq, respectively. Am I satisfied? Hello no! TIM could have a 20, 30 or even 50% month and while I’d be happy, I still wouldn’t be satisfied because with such a small account size, I don’t give a crap about index beating percentage gains—and neither should you!
After The Morning Rain Comes The Afternoon Sunshine
TIM $15,828 Up $243, One Bad Trade, One Perfect Trade
Today I focused all my time and energy on the two hottest microcaps, COIN and SHZ. As I detailed in this post, I screwed up COIN royally. Typical of a morning short sale. Considering the $12.40 closing price, my $13.50 entry price turned out to be pretty good—if I coulda woulda shoulda endured a little pain first—but since I always cut my losses quickly that was never really an option. And not cutting my losses quickly was out of the question.
After the failure to hold the breakout at $14, the ideal afternoon trade became shorting right at that $13.50 level because as you can see in the intraday chart, while holding that price sparked the morning surge, the failure to hold it in the afternoon—not once but twice—sparked a further sell off. Another ideal entry would be when the stock went negative on the day at $13.
