Another PennyStocking Success Story: Davey, A 21-Year-Old College Student

Tags: Good Trades, Guest Posts, Penny Stock Kings

Adding to the success of PennyStocking practitioners, grad student Tony Ellis (up $85,000+ now in 8 months) and Mike the Machinist (up over $410,000 now) comes the story of Davey, a 21 year-old student whose made $6,000+ within a few months using the strategies detailed in my PennyStocking DVD Package.

Granted $6,000 in profits over a few months is not as remarkable as those other guys, but who out there wouldn’t want an extra few thousand dollars? Especially those of you still in college. Especially those of you with small trading accounts…and remember, my DVD is only $300 so it’s paid for by one good trade!

Alright, enough of me blabbing, here’s Davey:

Guest Post: Superman’s Second Half 2008 Stock Picks

Tags: Guest Posts, Potential Plays

Unlike most narrow-minded finance freaks, I like to introduce you readers to all strategies, especially proven profitable ones, no matter if they’re not right for me cuz I’ve got the patience of a paparazzi photographer trying to snap shots of ARod & Madonna. So, here are the 2nd half picks of a longer-term trader who likes to buy, not short, speculative names whom I greatly admire, Superman.

Many of you TheLion.com readers know his research/influence is legit, and I’d brag about the incredible performance of his 1st half 2008 picks, but he already does that in the solid guest post below:

I am back from vacation. What I did learn is that Vegas seems to be hit hard by the economy. Everyone I talked to there said the same thing. It has been much slower due to the economy. It was easy to see. Need to research some Vegas stocks that may have more downside for potential shorts.

The first half of 2008 was an amazing time for me. As most know, I researched and pounded the table on PDO when it was $5-$7. My first buy was $4.47 and the stock ended up gaining 929% from that point to peak at $46. Other strong gainers I researched and selected included SINO 142% NTI 138% GBR 96% and CKX 65% (Gain percentage was measured from my first buy to the stocks peak thereafter. I always take some profit when I am up and use mental stops on the rest if I still believe the stocks will go higher. As you can see I am not a daytrader, but look for quality stocks that can make strong moves in time.

The market as we all know, has been in the tank. Oil is rising, the dollar is weakening, the credit crisis continues, and hopes for a second half economic rebound is on the ropes.

China stocks have also been in the tank, EPS or not.

However, I believe, In every market, there are always certain stocks and sectors that will still do well. It is a matter of being very selective with long positions. The industries must be in demand, even in a slowdown.

My top 3 stocks for the second half of 2008, in my opinion, meet this criteria:

How Grad Student Tony Ellis Made $6,500 Overnight & Is Now Up $85,000 In 7 Months!

Sure, it’s amazing that Tony Ellis turned $80k into $130k in 6 months, it’s amazing that his two worst trades weren’t even losses (he simply failed to take profits properly aka a good problem to have), it’s even more amazing that now he’s now given me PDF file that says his gains have now surpassed $85,000 (friggin’ awesome!), but what’s most amazing is his trading education and success is directly due to my instructional DVD PennyStocking Package (which comes with a 220-page instruction manual and an autographed copy of my book An American Hedge Fund). This ain’t no ad, it ain’t no scam, it’s proof positive my trading theories work.

This latest post is all Tony Ellis, who had the balls to buy a Supernova breakout (a chart pattern detailed at length on the DVD), even though it seems crazy and even I missed it (I was at a FOX interview…tough life!). And Tony wasn’t the only one….BJPN, himself another PennyStocking DVD student, also profited nicely, basically paying for the DVD in one trade—and judging by his $ profit, his account isn’t more than a few grand:

Bought pdo yesterday afterhours @37.5, sold half this morning @41.15 and the other half @41.89, at exactly 9:30:00 according to my trade log! Must have been a ton of buyers because I set to sell them all at limit price=41.05! $258 profit. I showed everyone at work my trade confirmation on my phone!

OK, enough promo/pride from me (c’mon, if your $300 DVD package was now responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars in gains for others (remember Mike the machinist…I’m claiming responsibility for half his $300,000 gains!), wouldn’t you be a little proud too?), take it away Tony:

Guest Post: TMK Banks From Buying A Sub-Penny Pump

Tags: Breakouts, Good Trades, Guest Posts, Patterns To Buy

There are really only a few blogs dedicated to PennyStocking-type plays that I regularly read, GOTS, SuperTrades, Nostradamus, TMK and The IL. Two days ago, we all–except UFGemini–missed getting in on the tremendous runup in sub-penny Quest Minerals & Mining Corp. (QMNM), but yesterday TMK nailed it on a wannabe copycat play, Heartland Oil and Gas Corp. (HTOG).

Below is his post, slightly edited/commented on by me, correcting tickers, spelling and such, it’s a pretty good overview…just one thing: TMK, verify your trades by signing up for Covestor already (unverified trades are worthless, everyone in this scummy industry is guilty until proven innocent):

June 24th Review
$43,378, Up $7,425 on the day.

Positions traded for a gain: HTOG ($8,275)

Positions traded for a loss: DSL ($700)

Open positions: Nothing, planning on taking a break from trading for a little bit.

Guest Post By Tony Ellis: How I Turned My Two Best Trades Into My Two Worst

Tags: Basics, Fess Up Time, Guest Posts, Missed Opportunities, Stock Stories, TIM Lessons

If you read THIS post about grad student Tony Ellis making over $50,000 in trading profits over the past few months entirely due to Pennystocking, you know he hasn’t just gotten lucky, he’s been dedicated. As I posted this morning, successful trading really is all about practice and learning time tested rules through your successes and failures, so in the following guest post written by Tony Ellis is quite an important one. He’s had a great run, like many who have already purchased my PennyStocking DVD, but that doesn’t mean he ain’t gonna make mistakes.

Mind you, my DVD only teaches a set of trading guidelines, what has and hasn’t worked for me…it certainly doesn’t have all the answers and actually is quite different for everyone depending on the student, experience level, risk tolerance, discipline and goals. Some things as Mrs. Gump says, “You’re gonna have to figure that out for yourself”.

In short, yes, I try to position myself ahead of big moves, but there is a reason why I’m so quick to take profits, allow so-far-successful-but-still-makes-mistakes-along-with-the-best-of-them

Penny Stock King Guest Post: A Few Stocks I’m Watching and The World’s Oldest Pump and Dump

Tags: Guest Posts, Hot Stocks, Potential Plays, Story Stocks

Forget about my watchlists, there’s a new PennyStocker in town and his name is Tony Ellis…He’s a PennyStocking DVD student / grad student who never really traded much before this year, but is now up a sweet $55,000 in 2008 even while attending school! He’ll soon have his own column here, but today I’m reposting his watchlist…look at the guy go, charts and price points included, no frivolous commentary whatsoever, watch out Sykes!

Here are a few I’m watching nothing ideal just a few I may daytrade this week.

Disclosure: I have no position in any of the following stocks.

NGAS-Oil stock not far from its 52 wk high of 9.35. I’m a buyer on a break of this level with volume spike to go along. Only a day trade for me, too much news political risk with Oil right now to be long overnight.

Why PennyStocking Is Comparable To Heroes The TV Show

Tags: Guest Posts, Potential Plays

An incredible post on Muddy’s Blog written by Mikity Mike must be read everywhere cuz it’s got trading wisdom in it. Soooo many great and successful people practicing and writing about PennyStocking out there, it’s beginning to feel like Heroes the TV show…The series tells the stories of ordinary individuals who discover that there are incredible trading opportunities in low priced stocks, and also explores how these people adapt to the changes the market brings, and their roles in preventing losses and saving the 90% of traders who lose money.

Think I should pitch NBC?

All I know is that I’m beginning to feel like Mohinder Surhesh…my job is just to study and categorize this phenomenon in order to publish the profit serum that’s gonna save everyone…save the trader, save the industry kind of thing…enough from me, here’s Mike’s excellent post, maybe you should just refer to him as Hiro Nakamura:

I’m gonna try to put everything that I do to prepare for the next trading day, the scans I run and the different styles I use to chose stocks to trade both long and short. No doubt I will forget a few things and will update this post as I remember different things. I’m gonna try to get it all in this 1 post because the last month I’ve been asked by quite a few a bunch of questions regarding my trading style.

Buying Stocks Like Mexco Energy Corp. (MXC) Works Too…If You’re Quick

Tags: Decent Trades, Guest Posts, Patterns To Buy

As you know, I want to teach you how to profit from all these sketchy low priced stocks, from the long AND short side, but since I’ve got about a dozen projects that interfere with my trading and considering I suck at going long, every now and then, I’m gonna bring in some posts from other traders/writers from whom you can learn a thing or two.

So, get ready this site is gonna increasingly become Seeking Alpha except that it won’t suck as there won’t be thousands of unqualified people writing about thousands of different stocks—now you’re gonna get just a few select views on a few select stocks, the only views and stocks that really matter to PennyStocking. That way you’ll be able to see many more angles…sound good?

First guest post comes from The Market Kid who’s been buying these same energy stocks I’ve been looking to short and enjoying far greater great success. Today, they might be dropping like flies (I put in short sell order for PDO at $29, $28 and $27 missing it each time…idiot…but smacked FPP in the face taking home a cool $500, detailed post coming), but yesterday TMK had no problem buying into the face of such absurdity, which can be a very good thing…if you take profits quick

The Importance Of Getting The Odds On Your Side And Not Being Overly Boring

Tags: Guest Posts, Value Investors

I love ripping on value investors. You might say it’s a hobby of mine. Not because I don’t think their strategy is valid—I think all strategies are valid—but because out of everyone in the finance industry, and I do mean everyone, these people are the most boring. And, it’s fun to get boring people agitated and see them struggle to remain their boring selves. Oh yeah, and they’re snobby, too. And stuffy. (Read my post where I pick a fight by calling them little sissy girls, which they are)

Due to the subject matter, finance is already boring and stuffy enough, we don’t need anymore of that crap. But these characters just can’t change—they believe what they believe—all other strategies are infidels—and so they are partly, if not mostly, to blame for the general lack of interest in finance by society as a whole.

Well, there’s hope for at least one of these mutants, Vitaliy Katsenelson. Even though he forgot to Ellis Island his name when he got here, he’s written a classically boring but unusually exceptional strategy book in Active Value Investing. Judging from the excerpt that he’s allowed me to repost here, he even sounds as if he’s got a little trader in him! It’s a great post and it echoes a difficult lesson I’m constantly trying to teach—no matter the end result of a trade/investment, if you enter with the odds/variables on your side, you’re bound to succeed eventually. If you partake in random/gut trading/investing, it doesn’t matter if you make money or not, you’ve already killed your chances for long-term success, you might as well just go to a casino and get free drinks.
