10 Lessons Learned From Earning $50,000+ In One Week
Posted by Timothy Sykes on Mon 4th of May, 2009 03:00:41 PMRemember me writing THIS, THIS and THIS about my special deal?
Well, nearly 1/4 of the current monthly TIMalert subscribers took advantage of that deal, I got some brand new subscribers, sold a bunch of testimonialed-to-death instructional DVDs and I had my best trading week since I began TIM back in 2007 (earnings over $4,000 in trading profits (which pales in comparison to the $30,000+ TIMalert subscribers made…seriously add up all the testimonials) putting me up 10%ish for April and now nearly 300% in the last 1.5 years) all added up to $50,000+ during my 1st week as a 28-year-old. (Happy B-day to me!)
I’m not saying this to brag…trust me, that was soooo 2003….I lay out all my cards because a.) everyone else in the blogosphere, instructional trading DVD and joke of a finance world, three industries filled with the weirdest, greediest, ugliest, most cowardly wannabe humans in existence, is too chickenshit to detail whether they actually make any $ or not (I’m sure some do, but again, the cowardly factor comes into play while the vast majority are too busy being full of it to ever really make any $ or, more importantly, contribute anything useful.) b.) full transparency is good business, it’s a shame more people don’t realize it. c.) $ is meaningless, anybody who does it only for the $ isn’t doing it for the right reasons, you gotta believe your biz helps people, that drives me one billion times more than my inherent Jewish greed.
OK, here are the lessons learned:
1. People love deals–the annual subscription to TIMalerts is back to $297, but that $100 off special deal really inspired hundreds of people to commit…amazing how marketing works…maybe I should just cut all my products prices’ in half for a day so poor people can ingest the information goodness?
2. Deals are fine, but on subscription products which require usernames & passwords, email and text message signups, it’s a biiiiitch to keep everything in order! As I said late in the offer, there won’t be any more deals on TIMalerts anytime soon, if you can’t afford $1/day, you shouldn’t be trading in the first place, you should go mow some lawns or beg on the street instead.
3. Don’t expect to get much sleep while offering a special deal the same week it just so happens that there are dozens of great trading opportunities. I slept in last Friday (the day my special offer ended) and missed out on my #1 potential short FRZ as it cracked support perfectly (good thing I alerted TIMalert subscribers in my pre-market text watchlist and brand new premarket video watchlists (free for all annual TIMalert subscribers until July 1st, $99/month for everyone else)…..uhhhh yeah I’m not always gonna be around, that’s why seeing my watchlist ahead of time is SO VALUABLE!)…check out those who baaaaanked on this perfect perfect perfect perfect short sell:
i shorted 1000 FRZ yesterday @ 3.70 i just got out at 2.98 nice little $700 profit thanks for the W/L Tim Its been a great Week.
-Dave
Shorted FRZ yesterday @ $3.55 covered $3.09ish
Another IB trade so I don’t want to login to TWS to get the exact P/L right now but roughtly +1400
-T Bohen
Made $80 on FRZ, got only a partial fill, took it from 3.365 to 3.285 oh yeah.
-Reaper
FRZ shorted at 3.58 profits of $177 so far, that will turn to $147 if I get stopped out or would go nuts if this thing breaks under 2.90
-G.S.
Holding FRZ short overnight from $3.20, currently sitting with a $400 unrealized profit.
-Adam N.
4. Considering that soooooo many bloggers out there don’t even make this in a year, and failed bloggers like Dan Lyons thinks it’s impossible to make $ blogging, well, it goes to show, just because or somebody else might be too ignorant/incompetent to succeed at something, doesn’t mean those willing to work harder won’t succeed smack in the faces of the underperformers. Welcome to the way the world works.
5. Making $ is nice, but it’s not the only thing in the world–when I rest my head at night, I am fulfilled because I know I run an honest business, a transparent business and most importantly, my instructional DVDs and subscription products actually help people learn AND earn in an industry known for doing exactly the opposite. Think of me as one of the highest paid teachers in the world. I hope to inspire others who have good knowledge and experience to share what they know
6. I make $ because of my track record, opennness, attitude, blah blah blah–my # source of income stems from my subscribers and students telling others how much they’re learning and earning from me…some people seem to think I make testimonials and trades up….nope, it’s all real and it’’s just beginning…wait til you see my biz in a few years, PennyStocking is blowing up because it’s 100% real which makes my biz rather unique in the scummy industries in which I participate.
7. Some people think all the $ has gone to my head–nope, the $ is rather meaningless to me, it’s just a way of keeping score and I intend on using for good, not evil. What has gone to my head is how different I am from the liars, thieves and cowards in these industries…I mean when I named my company BullShip Press, i knew there was deception, but I really had no idea. It will literally take a lifetime for me to cut through all the BS, I hope to never give in to the dark side….for now, I’m not even tempted in the least.
8. I’m not the best trader or the smartest person, I’m just an experienced trader and thanks to all the emails I got due to the success of Wall Street Warriors, I know what confuses wannabe traders and investors the most. I encourage all of you to find niches you know well and exploit what other don’t.
9. My book An American Hedge Fund was just the start of what I intend on publishing; while my current biz is doing great, books are such great educational toools so I gotta write another one. This time, far more technical in a similar vein as “Securities Analysis” and “How To Make money in Stocks”–anybody wanna help, this is gonna be a masssssive project!
10. I’m just a one man show, soon, I’m gonna build out http://www.pennystocking.com and that’s when we’ll really start to change people’s opinions about what stocks they should trade (Penny Stocks are easier!!!!)
PS I’ll have all my monthly numbers, $ and trading performance-wise up soon, just been busyyyyyy….busy making $50k/week hahaha yeahhhhh cubicle monkeys! ( I mock you in good fun, to inspire you…you know that, right? right?)
