Check Out This List Of The Highest Paid Bloggers

Posted by Timothy Sykes on Thu 19th of Mar, 2009 11:56:30 AM

There’s a new list in town and it seems far more accurate than Douglas MacIntyre’s wannabe list a few weeks ago (before he was shipped off to blogosphere purgatory), check out the new hotness:

1 Techcrunch Michael Arrington $200,000 Advertising Banners

2 Mashable Pete Cashmore $180,000 Advertising Banners

3 Perez Hilton Mario Lavandeira $140,000 Advertising Banners

4 Gothamist Jake Dobkin $80,000 Pay Per Click

5 Timothy Sykes Timothy Sykes $80,000 Affiliate Sales

6 Venture Beat Matt Marshall $62,000 Pay Per Click

7 Life Hacker Nick Denton $60,000 Advertising Banners

8 Tuts Plus Collis Taeed $55,000 Advertising Banners

9 Smashing Magazine Vitaly Friedman $50,000 Advertising Banners

10 Steve Pavlina Steve Pavlina $45,000 Pay Per Click

That’s the top 10, check out the whole 30 HERE.

Now as the website says, these are just estimates–because sadly not everyone posts their monthly numbers like me (I understand, I’m already 3 weeks behind on reporting February’s $22k income, oops, just did, detailed report coming when I have the time!)

And even though my numbers gyrate wildly depending on quarterly affiliate commissions and seasonal holiday-related instructional DVD sales, it’s cool to even be in the top 10 or 20 or even the top 50 of the entire blogosphere….a blogsophere gives away faaaaar too much for free because right now it’s the information hippies who are in charge…but that won’t last forever as information, especially valuable and worthwhile information comes at a premium.

  • nah made like $300k last year as i was ramping services
  • douchebag
Tim, you may be good at what you do, but man you are a douche bag.
  • i'm a douchebag for being proud to be a successful blogger? u call me whatever u want, i'll call u a moron
  • coen
300K is still sick, when i make that in a year im giving a party haha. hopefully in a couple of years :)

Do you still live in NYC btw?

Why is Tim a douchebag for making money? I don't understand! Give props, respect, and big up's to those doing well in this economy, with out relying on Federal Bailout monies.

So Tim ... are we having LiiveStock tomorrow?
  • HopeSolo
Affiliate sales? As in Tim Affiliates linking to your store? I figured you made much more off of advertising, tim alerts and DVD sales.
  • HopeSolo
Not hating, just saying, I don't think it's all blogs, I think it's the highest income of HIS favorite blogs.
  • sell high buy low
funny how alpha NOW says he basically sold the dow and made like 8,000 points. this industry is filled with so many d-bags it's insane. if you are smart don't drink the kool-aid and think for yourselves. good luck super sheep.
  • That list is horribly incomplete and inaccurate. First a distinction needs to be made between pure blogs and sites that have a blog but make most of their money selling products etc. Tim's site is a blog, but most of his revenue comes from his subscription service and DVD sales. Nothing wrong with that, but it's a much different business model than, let's say, Seeking Alpha, which is a pure blog. Second, is this guy serious that the 30th highest producing blog makes just over $2K. I know he says he doesn't have complete info about all blogs, but when you don't have complete info about 99% of the blogs out there and don't even know they exist, why bother putting together such an incomplete list? My site does over $10K per month (mostly subs, but some advertising), but as a private company, I'll never release the details. It's none of anyone's business.

Keep up the good work Tim. Just don't get a big head. That list is pathetic.
  • leavitt, start writing our income posts, we'll ALWAYS have pathetic lists until people start sharing more
  • On another note, if you're an aspiring blogger, this list isn't a bad place to start to get ideas. How will you lay out your site? What revenue streams (advertising (many types), affiliations, subscriptions etc) will you strive for? Why reinvent the wheel. See what works and copy it.

Wow, you are the most pompous, bullshitting person on the web. What an accredited source you have here. This shit is worse than communist-controlled media/propaganda. I don't believe this shit for a second. You may be fooling a few 12 year olds and naive first-timers but really your just another snake oil salesman telling everyone they can get rich quick. Grow some balls and face your denial.
  • alexander, aka dumbass, when have i ever said people can get rich? i work my butt off trading and blogging, neither $ comes easily, u gotta work for every thousand, come back when u've done some research and i might let u grovel
