8 Hot Stock Picks For Thursday, Mostly Gun Makers & Insolvent Banks!
Posted by Timothy Sykes on Thu 12th of Mar, 2009 12:35:53 PMThis was sent to TIMalert subscribers at 1AM EST today…yup, the peeps who pay me $1/day were prepared for today, don’t you wish you were prepared and then maybe you wouldn’t be one of the 90% of traders who lose:
Lots of good setups, but few shares available to short…welcome to my strategy…the good news is that when a stock becomes a true “gimme” short, the short sellers who took all the original shares are getting squeezed, so while you want to get angry at how few short shares exist, we need that scarcity in order to create the squeezes that cause such true “gimme” short setups…understand?
RGR was a niiiice winner for me, I made 4% or $425…putting me up 247% since I started this thing in 11/07, now up 2% in 2009…the stock ended up being a 7% winner before squeezing stubborn shorts a bit….best of all the stock was easy to borrow so anybody who knows how to short sell could profit…look at all the happy TIMalert subscriber testimonials:
Short at 10.63 – Covered at 10.04…$590 in profits!
-Kelvin
Just wanted to say thanks for the RGR play today up $450 on it and that was with horrible timing on my part
-B.
Shorted 400 RGR @ 10.01 covered @ 9.5699, $180-ish gain, wishing I had more capital…
-Jeff Moates
I profited $200
-BULL
RGR Short +$157.68
-Reaper
covered RGR at 9.85 this morning , this was my first shorting trade through Tim. made about $100

ASTI finally started production of their solar stuff that was hyped over a year ago…pathetic…stock is now up 50% in 2 days off its $2ish lows…this is definitely a potential short, tons and tons of bitter shareholders…support is $3.15, if that fails, there’s a pretty clear path to $2.75…mehopes it squeezes some early shorts though to give it more downside potential!
HLX, up from $2.5 just a few days ago, was a great short yesterday when it went negative on the day from $4.5 to $4, but you’d have to cover quickly because it bounced…still finished down on the day
APY jumped 300%+ inside of an hour yesterday….look at that intraday chart, crazy! No shares to short…too bad, but this is a solid pattern to short into since there wasn’t any news and it was on low volume.
SWHC spiked at the market open yesterday when Barrons featured them…made me scared to hold RGR, but it turns out the spike was just a fakeout as this gun stock faded better than RGR ever did! Are you guys seeing how no pattern is ever perfect/the same, I just my experience and knowledge of past plays to help me better understand future plays….that’s why my instructional DVDs are required watching, they help prepare you for future plays! SWHC reports earnings today, I don’t care anymore, next!
FOE got new financing, this is a fundamentally important event, I don’t like shorting these as I have no idea if a 150% rise is too much…it ended up 110%, this is not a short I’ll EVER take, too much risk of getting squeezed.
FSNM was also up 90% to the $2 range, but this distressed bank also had good fundamentals news: they sold off assets…not shortable for me and I’m not surprised that it held it gains…heck this is even a potential buy
MBI is a financial stock so I also hesitate to play it, but the pattern is nice—up 100% off its $2 lows in just a few days—yesterday looked to be reversal day, but it still finished green on the day, so possible short squeeze today…potential short still, support is $3.50, could be an easy 25 cents/share to the downside, but not really enough to get me excited…I’m just watching.
