9 Stocks To Watch, Some Good For Short Selling, All To Be Discussed On LiveStock Today 1-2PM EST
Posted by Timothy Sykes on Fri 13th of Feb, 2009 11:25:05 AMThis was sent to TIMalert subscribers around midnight last night to beat the Valentine’s Day internet traffic…seriously!:
Two things–first, LiveStock is on today 1-2PM EST HERE and there’s gonna
be some giveaways on the show, free subscriptions, hats, autographed
books…see the details in THIS post. And second, I apologize about the
late email alerts, our service provider says its due to Valentine’s Day
traffic, yeah right…thats’ why we have free text messaging and the
TIMalerts.com website, we’re also working on a once-and-for-all-solution.
Strange days we’re having, strange days my friends…the overall market is
definitely influencing my trading because I feel we’re on the verge of a big
move, one way or the other…you’ll see me taking many small gains/losses
because I refuse to risk being caught—or letting you guys be caught—the
wrong way. I’m down 5% in 2009, bad, but not terrible and it’s because one
of the keys to my success is quick loss cutting. Remember the market is
closed on Monday so today’s potential short squeeze is higher than your
typical Friday…
DISK got a bigtime contract, gapped up big and barely budged, trading like a
takeover, irrelevant to me, please stop the emails, gratzie!
DFT is a hard hit stock that 37% on “good” earnings…following the pattern of
XL, HRZ, VPRT and other recent hard hit earnings winners, buy the breakout,
this case is $5.75ish
ASIA is an earnings spiker, up 23% yesterday, made for a great afternoon
breakout play, exactly like XL the day before, XL didn’t do much afterwards,
I’m not expecting anything more form this one, potential buy though
FLML has now surged from $4 to $7 in 4 trading days, typical failing
biotech, but be careful of ARNA-like-no-end-in-sight-strength, this is my #1
potential short.
ARNA continues surging, making feel very very good about only taking a 30
cent loss shorting too early…there’ll come a day when the shorts have all
been squeezed and all that’s left is this carcass of a company and a
loudmouth cheerleading CEO…today is not that day, I’m waiting for signs of
reversal, the kind detailed in my Pennystocking Part Deux DVD.
JRJC I shorted at $10.69 and covered 1200 shares at $10.79 for a $140ish
loss…I was dead on that it’d take out day low of $10.55 and it did hit
$10.26, but I was going for big market crash—which looked perfect until
Obama manipulated the market higher in the last hour (actually good job
guy!)—so I played it safe and got out at resistance (overall market surging
like that in the last hour usually spells gap higher next day)…obviously I
had a $600 gain, but I don’t want to take profits within an hour or two, my
goal is to get out in 1-2 days so I don’t trade against
subscribers….doesn’t stop you guys though!
ZAGG I loved the setup, as I wrote, but as I told TIMalert subscribers, I
wasn’t going to risk holding an illiquid speculative in a market that was on
the verge of breaking through key support (as happened in the morning)…sold
for a $100ish gain, glad several TIMalert subscribers banked more, still
watching for bigger breakout in less dangerous market, potential buy.
ISTA is now a double off its $1 lows, too risky to short yet, earnings next
week, potential upcoming short
SKYT is finally beginning to fade, potential short, too bad its so illiquid,
reserve shares to short every day just in case since there’s $1+ of
downside.
