Lessons From 2008: 7 Reasons Not To Use Human Brokers

Posted by Timothy Sykes on Tue 27th of Jan, 2009 08:25:59 AM

1. By and large, human brokers cannot be trusted

2. Online discount brokers are sooooooo much cheaper

3. If you’re reading this, you’re probly poor—worth less than $100,000—your stock/option/currency orders are tiny, you can do themselves and save commission $

4. Brokers don’t have “good” information, they just want commissions, if their information is really excellent, be suspicious, don’t get mixed up in any inside information stuff

5. You don’t want to rely on others for your finances, ever

6. Emerging technologies like blogs, Covestor and StockTwits are making useful information widespread

7. Screening tools and advanced analytics find potential trades/investments like no human ever could

    Tim,

I've been following you for about 2 years now. Being a very young "broker" myself, I agree and disagree with you. but then, again, i don't want to start anything with you....or have the SEC come knocking on my door. so...i'll keep it short. The term "broker" is pretty much offensive these days anyway.

    But here are my points:

If you want to trade stock, use a discount broker...and lose your money yourself, not through a broker. Or follow Tim, and make money... But I'll always be skeptical Timmy. You've been proving me wrong for a long time now, and I like that. But Bernie proved everyone wrong for over 20 years. haha...jk bro, but hey i'll always be cautious with you tim.

if you need help with your finances, do get help! A good "FA" can help. A stock broker can't. (point 5).

    end.
  • BROKERs
Most brokers simply cold call and sell crappy annuities or stocks that clowns in-house hype. They sell other people's returns for mutual funds and 95% of all brokers i met were complete morons. They didn't care about TA or FA, just that they knew how to close a sale to some sucker. Am I really telling anyone something new? TIM, I am poor but I charge 198,000,837,233 for each post.
