The following was sent out around midnight so my TIMalert premium subscribers could be prepardo for the day ahead:

Lots of you like Muddy & Laura from Darkside Trading and they just reviewed
my PennyStocking Part Deux DVD HERE and HERE

Some quotes:

Overall a very good value for new and experienced traders alike, packed
with lessons on how to trade these volatile pennies.

This DVD was a playground, I loved the charts and the stocks he talked about
in those charts.

Offers the best examples to learn from.

He goes on to say I don’t know how scalable this niche is, he’s right,
nobody does! I’ve made millions and I’m just scratching the surface…all I
can do is offer you guys what I know

…so much for any Obama market rally, I think people are realizing we just
elected a smart guy who speaks well, but, like the rest of us, has little to
no idea just how screwed our financial system really is. All the major banks
are collapsing, Bank of America, BAC, down to $5, down 75% in the last week,
C under $3, JPM taking out November lows, etc. etc. etc. Only total risk
takers are thinking we bottom here and I ain’t buying it and even if I was,
I wouldn’t bet on it because the odds are surely less than 50/50 and probly
less than 30/70. That said, I’m not shorting either, Obama might announce
something quickly and we could really spike up overnight…I’m staying liquid
until I see a truly worthy setup…and there are some potential plays

AAPL is the antithesis of a penny stock, but I can’t help but admire it
taking out multi-month support at $80…very very impressive for short
sellers.

HSNI keeps uptrending in a nasty market, might we get a second chance to
short this thing into further strength later this week?

BNE is the same pattern as HSNI, got really excited it spiked today, but it
couldn’t hold its gains…very sad, probly won’t play it, faded too quick for
my tastes.

PALM ran smack into resistance from last August/September and dropped 20
cents/share, nobody seems to have shares to short of this, maybe play its
options, but that’s not my game and this stock probly only went down due to
the market, not individual weakness

NCEN predictably dropped 20%, but no shares available to short…I know, it’s
maddening, right? Well, that’s PennyStocking, you can have 70, 80, 90% odds
of success, but there are obstacles, just keep at it and you’ll win
eventually since the odds are on your side! (if you’re patient enough to
wait for the highest probability setups…if you don’t know what those are
then you need my PennyStocking Part Deux DVD) (see how it all comes full
circle?)

  • Yep, patience is the key. Sometimes (for me at least) it's hard to let cash just sit there. But it's better than jumping into a 1/2 baked trade and losing it. Having the patience to wait for the right trade will pay off over time. And that right trade WILL come :-)!

I've been watching Quantum Group (QGP) today as a possible short. It has gone from .34 to 1.57 in seven trading days.Way extended above it's BB's. Volume is anemic, however. Is this the type of pattern you look for?
  • jose
hey tim, not sure if ur watching the Obama speech, but hes preaching about transparency and how the govt should be open!
  • A
Yes, JF. QGP is known as the stair-stepper pattern. Definitely a good potential short of the fluffy press release.

    Hey Tim,

Remeber our argument last August here http://timothysykes.com/2008/08/12/timalerts-2-... about NOBL. I said it was a crappy company, you said it was a "turnaround" play due to "good earnings. "

Stock is down from 7.00 to 0.34 over that time. Looks like my thesis was correct. Happy travels.

    @JF

Typically he would want that same movement to happen withing 1-2 days not over 7 days...Having sudden violent spikes there is usually a good chance of it tanking just as good.
  • Gee
Wow Tim you're usually spot on but, hopefully nobody is short overnight AAPL, just knocked earnings out of the park.
