Nassim Taleb & Benoit Mandelbrot Interview: BM Looks Exactly Like Gothmog!

So the stock market is looking strong/weak–depending on your desired holding period–and everybody is trying to figure out the economy…

Now I have no economic forecasting skills/knowledge whatsoever–which probly means I’m the smartest economist in the world (figure it out)–so I rely on others for these fun guessing games.

Obviously I prefer smart guys who have actually made a ton of money off their forecasting skills rather than all the academics in the world whose attitudes stem from intimidating-sounding degrees rather than any great boatload of battle-test profits. (yeahhhhh, financial education/teaching/knowledge is complete crap, similar to scientific knowledge during the Middle Ages…which brings up an interesting idea: maybe we should tar and feather or at least burn those alive who speak and speak and speak and incite crowds even though they can’t back up anything they say, kinda like most heretics aka let’s get all Catholic Church on their asses…who’s with me?)

Strange ranting aside, here’s Nassim Taleb, writer of THIS awesome must read book and his old ass math mentor, Benoit Mandelbrot (who you can’t tell me doesn’t kinda resemble that bad Orc leader in the third–and best–Lord Of The Rings Movie:

Did you and shannon lose soo much in 2008 from trading that his website will shut down the day after the seminar? I guess real traders don't have to show results. you say 99% are frauds. so if you don't show results, i guess you are in the 1%. I can't wait until the SEC sues you for false advertising -- you guaranteed shannon makes money in order to sell your seminar. Prove it over the last 5 years!! Why do you think you guys sell DVD, books, etc....because you suck at trading. you both worry more about web hits than making money trading. horrible. snake oil.
  • WTF r u talking about? take your ritalin dude and stay off my site....no false advertising whatsoever, i detail all my results and shannon donest...to each his own..the guy still is a great teacher and thats why we'd do a seminar together, not that we're probly even going to because u poor bastards arent worth our precious time
  • and PS i might not be th ebst trader--which doesnt matter at all since the best traders are the weirdest people with the worst lives u'll ever meet--but my 200%+ return last year nullifies the attacks of everyone, bring on 2009, ant wait to dominate this joke of an industry even more
  • i dont even have to spell right, u're should eb honored by my commenting on your pathetic excuse for an existence u little internet troll

Tim, just disable the comments. Get it over and done with. Let them vent in the forums. Same stuff is repeated in all the blog comments over and over and over and over and over and over again!
  • nah the comments are good, i have nothing to fear/hide, let the idiots prove themselves the names i call them...helps show what kind of morons this industry has and why its so easy to outperform and take the dumb people's $
  • am i really the only one who knows who gothmog is?

  • I have read Taleb's first book twice and have not had the nerve to read the swan book. If this Tube is remotely true, I need to get out of the business and sweep up seaweed in Jamaica. Which reminds me of the post that the Jam Bank did I think in 9/23, "Why don't you all just cool out."
