Chanukah Gift #1: The 1st Of Eight Interviews With Jews Who Work In Finance Who Jew Should Know About
Posted by Timothy Sykes on Mon 22nd of Dec, 2008 07:30:04 AMSmack in the middle of Timukah comes the 8 crazy days/nights of Chanukah, the festival that inspired Timukah in the first place…
So to celebrate, I’m going to feature some interviews (some real and some imaginary…I’ll tell you which is which) with 8 Jews who work in finance and who you should know about because they’re quality…of course I had to interview myself first to get the ball rolling:
1. What is your favorite chanukah memory of years past?
Getting baseball cards that I thought would be wroth a fortune in the coming decades (I was wrong)
2. What is your favorite trade/investment of years past?
3. What are your plans for chanukah this year?
Going to Arizona/Vegas for family, then Paris for New Year’s Eve!
4. What is your stock market outlook for 2009?
I am confident that 70%+ of mutual fund managers will underperform the S&P 500 & 90%+ of traders will lose.
5. Do you have a tip/lesson for investors/traders to follow in 2009?
Be open to change if you’re poor, forget mutual funds, they’ve lost you a ton and they’re not gonna make anything back quickly, you’ll make more money by mowing lawns, if you’re good at value investing, lick your 40% wounds, admit the strategy is flawed and quit being so boring/weird, if you’re a snakeoil salesman, find a new job because I’m gonna destroy your non-transparent businesses in the years to come, if you’re a day trader/investor who loses, stop fooling around with all the most actively traded names in which you have no edge whatsoever, my instructional DVDs can help you get back on your feet one easy high probability setup at a time…
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s interview with PP
