Guest post time, this one comes from the fine folks over at Umoo.com.

This one especially goes out to the few hundred of you who keep emailing me that you don’t have enough money in your trading accounts to even trade, here’s a contest that’s free to enter (costs $10 but you get refunded if you sign up HERE by November 30th) and you can win enough $ to put into an actual trading account…right now we only have a few dozen people signed up so the odds of winning a few hundred/thousand are pretty damn good:

Dear TIMalert members,

We are happy to announce - registration is now open for the “UMOO.com - TIMalerts $10,000 Trading Game“.

Sign up to UMOO.com, the new & innovative fantasy stock trading arena and win up to $10,000, in this one week (5 trading days) virtual stock trading tournament!

UMOO is a new online platform for Financial Entertainment, combining the fun of Internet based multiplayer games with the thrill and opportunity for reward offered by the financial markets.

UMOO’s concept follows the ebb & flow of actual stock market trading, but with a competitive twist - Traders compete against each other, not the markets.

Once entering a trading tournament, players receive $100,000 virtual money with which to build and manage a virtual stock portfolio based on real S&P 500 stock market data.

Here’s the prize structure for the $10,000 to be given away:

The objective of the players is to make the highest returns on their portfolio, while competing with the other participants. Throughout the duration of the tournament, players are benchmarked against each other and at the end of the tournament the winners are the traders with the highest relative returns.

UMOO offers absolutely anyone a real opportunity to win; We are now holding a joint $10,000 Tournament with Timothy Sykes and you are all invited to join.

To participate, all you have to do is Sign Up and when you get to the tournament lobby search for the “$10,000 TIMalerts tournament (ID 928), then simply click “join”. The tournament costs $10 to join but once you make a deposit you will get a first deposit bonus of $10 so the tournament is practically free!

At UMOO you will also find a variety of additional trading games, which vary in duration (from 1 hour to 1 week) buy-ins and prize structures.

Feel free to ask questions regarding this $10,000 event (or about UMOO in general) in this thread.

See you on the trading floor,

UMOO Support Team

  • Who says trading isn't legalized gambling? Umoo.com is almost identical to a poker site with tournaments, etc.. not going to lie.. I love poker! Great idea Umoo! Looking forward to playing.
  • yes, responsible/meticulous gambling is good, ego-based "for the action" gambling is bad

I think CNBC is having their stock challenge starting soon if it hasn't started already. Me thinks Timmay won't be asked to come on like before.
  • Hey Tim
My timalerts login is not working so i reset my password and when it sent a link to click on to reset it, it said the key is invalid. Can you please fix this for me. My username is UFgemini. Thanks man
  • Cletus
Tim you look just like Timmay from South Park in the picture for the competetion on your home page
  • BallsNall
This site is now nothing more than a cheap pimp for the fraud Sykes.
  • younggunz
uuuggh when hasn't it been? :)

I singed up, played a playmoney tournament and the welcome freeroll. Had some problems trading, specifically short selling. Got a hold of customer suport in the chat. Vanessa could not figure out the problem said that they would have to email me. This was Tuesday Nov 11.

Nothing after that. I have sent two followup emails. Still no reply from UMOO.

The concept looks good, but the support is almost non-existent. Given this I am not going to deposit real money.
  • Qun
I am playing using real money, making money every week.

I am going to withdraw some money this weekend to see if it is easy to withdraw money, if everything goes well, I'd like to say UMOO is going to be a success, it is good so far.

I notice Florida is not in the drop down menu to register for the Umoo tournament. Does that mean Florida residents are ineligible to enter?
  • bassman52
hey JF they didnt have maryland either i just PA it registered me fine no problems.
  • bassman52
    **entered**
  • yes some states dont allow it, its too dangerous!
  • Umoo is a scam. It looks like a brilliant site at first.... but they use so many coaxes and bait and switch tactics, you will never see your money again. If it were legit, it'd be great... but since they refuse to send the money you win back to you, that's a scam. I have already filed a BBB report. Aside from that, this is a GAMBLING site. currently illegal. Plus, they are unregulated. These pay to play tourneys: how could you win when all of their staff is playing to prevent you from ever winning?
