How My Blog Made $70,000 Even While I Went Away For 10 Days In August

Posted by Timothy Sykes on Mon 8th of Sep, 2008 03:47:29 PM

Well, $69,972 for the month to be exact…pisses me off I was so close to breaking the $70,000 barrier, but came up a lousy $28 short! What can I say, it’s a tough life.

This getting-ridiculous-rather-quickly figure is up from $45,000 in July (see July details HERE), up from $25k in June, $15k in May (those are estimated cuz they weren’t high enough for me to spend hours dissecting everything in order to brag about it)

…and of course the icing on the cake is that I had a nice trip to Japan for 10 days (see itinerary HERE, pics/videos will be up shortly) even while my blog was more than paying for the trip as I was taking it!

Here’s the breakdown:

Trading Gains (monthly review up later this week): $1,894

PennyStocking DVD: $16,161

TIMalerts real-time stock alerts service: $20,924

Website Advertising & Affiliate Sales: $28,287

TIMalerts lifetime membership: $1956

An American Hedge Fund Book sales: $750

Total: $69,972

Some notes:

Trading gains might seem a pittance compared to the rest of the biz, but remember I went back to $12,415 last November so even at $26k+ now, yup, up 100%+ even as the markets tank aka welcome to why my PennyStocking strategy (click HERE to learn more about it) is ideal for small traders/investors, I’m working with a small account. Now that I’m over the $25k hump, I can finally trade freely, all this time before, I haven’t–see what crazy industry regulation I’m talking about HERE.

Many people think blogging is a joke and that me closing my hedge fund in exchange for this biz was cowardly. Considering this monthly income is now above and beyond what I used to earn with my crappy little hedge fund–not to mention my month-over-month growth rate is ridiculous and it’s infinitely more fulfilling–all those people can go straight to hell. Oh wait, most of them work in finance–meaning they’re soulless suits and cubicle monkeys–they already are in hell!

My book–the thing that got me started blogging in the first place–is nearly irrelevant. 50 copies/month sold on Amazon/Bn.com, actually more get shipped for free included in the DVD packages!

Advertising had a big month-over-month gain, mainly cuz we signed some multi-month deals…I count $ when I get it, not gonna average it out over many months…already got some more multi-month deals signed in September, but waiting for the checks so I don’t count those until I get my money!

Obviously, this figure is not my income, DVDs/books and websites (4 new ones coming out in the next month as I detailed HERE) aren’t cheap to produce/maintain and of course I give a percentage to the guy that made this all possible, the man Pallian, whose percentage share keeps going up based on all the stuff he’s bringing in and will probly get a nice fat Christmas bonus if the next few months go well. In short, my margins are still pretty juicy, but I think you’ll all be surprised at what I intend to do with this blog money.

Way to go man. Looks like advertising/affiliate revenue is really kicking up. Do you have an estimate on how much of that is affiliates? They're a powerful marketing tool if you get a really good one to pick you up to bring your name to the top of the search engines.

    Tim,

If you were to move to a town in Alabama you will receive 50,000 dollars. No joke, an AP article headline "Group dangles $50K for Jews to move to Ala. town". The catch: you have to stay for five years.
