  1. Tim, love the book recommendations, keep ‘em coming! During slow trading times like the past week, I’ve been reading up on various financial books you’ve recommended and have enjoyed each one so far. I’ll be sure to post my thoughts as I finish them. Thanks!

  2. What is it Tim? haven

  3. So today, i got into a convo about stocks, which i didn’t really want to get into, since i am on vacation from the stock market.

These douches kept telling me daytrading is for suckers. And they kept quoting warren buffet and fundamental analysis and index funds.. i was like oh right, how’s that index fund doing now?

I told them that warren buffet is different because he looks for long term stuff which is like 10+ years.

I doubt they have 10+ years to fucking around with their money like he does.

What do you guys say to these douches? I just told them i had to go and got of there.

  4. u didnt get the email yet?

here’s the link to the post on the subscribers-only TIMalerts website:

    http://www.timalerts.com/2008/.....d-u-soooo/

  5. To the douces you have to ask:

What is YOUR track record? Show me audited statements.
How is it compared to your benchmark?
How much of your fees are based on assets under management and how much is performance based?
What % of your own net worth is on this investments?

If the answers seem to good to be true, ask for proofs.

They actually have a point saying that daytrading are suckers, cause 90% are, if you want to day trade you have to make sure you are in the top 10%. And quoting my Organizational Behaviour Prof. “80% of people think they are in the top 50%”

  6. Just got it, lov ya tim, you have turned me from a money bleeder to a money maker.

  7. Tim would you hold this creature (MNLU) overnight?

Just sold my whole position at6.90. Thinking of rebuying some if it has a strong close.

  8. Well Tim, I must say, I was very hesitant to subscribe to TIMalerts. But I decided to do a monthly trial and signed up just yesterday. Within an hour of signing up, I received your alert on MNLU. Seeing that it had indeed broken it’s 52 week highs, I bought 1,000 @ 6.70 and held it overnight even though you sold yours off too quickly (but understandable given your entry point). I just sold at 6.90 for a net gain of $180 which more than covered the cost of this first month of alerts. The trade can also be verified on covestor (AdamN). Many Thanks!

  9. glad many of u guys are still in MNLU, really no reason to sell, not sure i’d buy back in though

  10. tried to buy back after it:
    1) broke $7
    2) formed a small wall of buyers over $7

Last minute limit order of 7.15 for 300 shares didn’t got executed for 1 minute even though they were asks for that price.

I ended up the day with no positions at all and up $350ish

Not much to complain about really.

  11. yah its tough to buy these suckers when they move up, thats why u gotta be early and risk it…if u want shares badly enough

  12. New to the TIMalerts but similar success! Got in MNLU at 6.70 yesterday and got out during today’s final rush at 7.10. Subscription is paid off with a little gravy on the side! Thanks Tim!

  13. cool avarice, how much was your $ gain?

  14. These douches aren’t even professionals or anything. They are just bums talking smack.

I should have not even wasted my time talking to them.

    Sigh… valuable lesson learned today.

  15. $298

  16. or wait, let me guess, is that 746 share block yours? $300 profit?

  17. Yep!

  18. Arrgh I want in— etrade takes sooo long to sell and then transfer money to my account. I’m waiting for the DVDs to come in the mail, so I might just get a month of TimAlerts to get some more practice. The TOS simulator is nice, but winning virtual money is not as good as making real money!

  19. Damn, tim just looks at the level 2 and knows!

    LOL.

  20. Don’t have time to read those books either. Too busy reading the ones you recommended which are helping a lot.

    So far
America Hedge Fund: inspirational, motivational and makes you aware of the emotional pitfalls to avoid. Easy to read, hard to drop, u’ll read it in no time.

The Art of Contrarian thinking: Makes you understand and remember how when everybody else is doing something you should not, examples from since the world started spinning, tulipmania, real estate in florida (not the one on early 2000s, the one in 1920s….yes… it has all happened before)

CHinese Candlesticks: just started reading but seems useful since the beginning, will get back on this one once I am done.

Terchnical analysis using multiple timeframes: HAven’t received it yet, but have read the articles from brent and this guy really knows what he is talking about. Finally somebody is going to explain how to combine charts of different time periods, I have been looking for something like this for a while. Is a perfect complement for Tim’s DVD where he keeps on whinning (I don’t know how to spell whinning, deal with my spanglish gringo) about he can’t get intraday charts of past frauds.

    And the one and only…
Penny Stocking: forget listening eminem or 50 cents ranting about da system, rip it to your ipod and you can hear Tim ranting about the sec and you can be rich. Instead of buying 50 cents “get rich or die trying” get sykes “Get rich, period”.

Seriusly, solid stuff in the dvd.

  21. Check out CRIS nice chart.

  22. Yes, nice chart, but it didn’t move today after the opening, so I got out, will get back in if it starts moving with volume.

Definitely one to keep in mind… …. but only good if it moves…. It is using this logic that I got back in and made a buck of MLNU, without much downside risk, CRIS has been resting allday, lets see in what mood does it wake up tomorrow.

  23. I just ordered your book tim! And i want it Now!!! xD

  24. 24

i dont know what was wrong with me in the past two days!..probably not being in my own apartment..
i watched all those perfect setups passing,,
today finally i got back on track in the afternoon.
rode MLNU from 6.75 to 7.15 and also got in to WTSLA.
WTSLA just broke out at the end of the day.

  25. Just finished “Trend Trading” by Michael Covel. Hated it. The first two thirds of the book is profiles of trend traders and fancy charts of all the humongus fortunes they amassed, but not a thing about the systems they actually used. Actual trend trading systems? There are two useless example systems in an appendix in the back. Nothing about finding trends to follow, nothing about how to know when a trend is starting/ending, nothing about what kind of systems work best, nothing of real use in the whole book. I want my $18 and two evenings back…

  26. Sexy chart that of WTSLA, only concern is that breakout was on only double the average volume. Hope volume increases tomorrow.

Either way good stock to watch.

  27. hi MAtt, thanks for the review, guess you are refering to “trend following” with a bunch of horses in the cover.

Actually this was the next on my buying list, any comments on this pick Tim? is it more of a motivational stuff (I am already way too motivated) or some practical stuff as well?

  28. I started reading Trend Following but could not finish it - it was too contradictory and too scattered. However, it has these quotes on the margins of each page. I may keep it in the bathroom for quick reading of the quotes. I started reading Market Wizards, very good.

  29. Guess I’ll pass on that one then, maybe will go for soros

  30. I just got done writing my pics for tommrow (earnings thoughts)
That and im buying cc at 1.9

  31. G-d I’m a sucky newb. I seriously can’t screw up your TIM alerts any worse, and I’m still ahead $30, which paid for the first month of TIMAlerts.

  32. What a guesser Jay, I bet half of your guesses are on.

THink you are going to eventually get it, but I’ll try to save you some years of knocks if you are willing listen: Investing on anecdotic evidence for prediciting of the earnings works 50% of the time. Unless your uncle is on the board and is giving you illegal information, stop wasting your time and money. You’ll make up money on the long term only if you can repeatedly get chances better than 50%

Happy Learning, hope your suffering doesn’t last too long, in the meantime, seat tight and buckle up.

  33. My sincere advice to you Jay, stop using your time in guessing and get to study some technical analysis, I’ve been were you are now.

  34. 34
    YngvaiMalmsteve -

WTSLA is such a slow mover. It moves around 20 cents a day maximum.

  35. Yngvai is in da house, any picks for tomorrow?

  36. I like how Tim has to give every Tim Alert subscriber something to get them high while he searches for the next great picks, you guys are like addicts and I’m jealous. I haven’t subscribed yet, I’m going to as soon as my next pay check arrives I wanna see if his stuff is better than the stuff the other guys are selling.

  37. Alrighty I’ve ordered the DVD and virtually made $268 in 2 days this week from Tim’s picks, so I’m ordering a month of Tim Alerts too. I just finally registered on this site too, and ready to get to work next week when my new TOS account is finally funded.

  38. thanks jake and congrats on your winnings! everyone else, check out the new post:

  39. A Bull in China, by Jim Rogers is a fair read. It isn’t a spectacular book, but rather, a financial and economic argument in favor of China being the next best thing around. In it, he guides you through the various industries and individual stocks within those industries Jim Rogers expects to benefit from this advance. He also explains how the current system of finance works in China (”A” shares, “B” shares, etc.) and how the average investor can get in on it. The value that I find within the book is not necessarily the stock picks or the argument for China, but rather, one must read between the lines and get into Jim Roger’s head. Examine how he thinks, his train of thought, and how he came up with certain arguments and conclusions.

Jim Rogers has never written a how to book, with the exception of his interview in Market Wizards, but he has written argumentative books, similar to a compilation of essays or research papers. Although the content in them is useful, the content on the surface is as if he is giving the poor man a fish, all be it varying sizes of fish, but it is still giving, not teaching. By examining his thought process in coming up with these arguments is he teaching a man to fish, teaching how to think about the markets.
