hedge fund book2 Why An American Hedge Fund Book Is For Beginners Too

Got this great review for my book An American Hedge Fund (available on Amazon HERE, Audible HERE and iTunes HERE) the other day so c’mon, you knew I was gonna share it!

Innovative, inspiring, honest…

Tim’s business model is simple - brutal honesty. His book, An American Hedge Fund, is just that, brutally honest. The finance industry is filled with corruption, manipulation, and arrogance of the highest degree. Tim’s brutally honest story about his trading experiences (both good and bad), in an industry where the truth is as common as an honest politician, illustrates his character and supports his business model.

An American Hedge Fund gives its readers the opportunity to ride Tim’s stock-market-roller-coaster-ride where he takes $12,000 and turns into $2,000,000. That by itself is both inspiring and motivational, but the book adds another dimension which I found to be even more stimulating; Tim’s introspective journey. The psychology behind trading stocks is truly fascinating and first-hand experience can be truly humbling. The life lessons Tim learns from trading stocks, which he openly shares in his book, apply to all areas of life, which the reader will either identify with or learn from.

For someone who has never traded a stock in his life (me!), this book peaked my interest to learn the stock market. An American Hedge Fund will not teach you how to trade stocks or reveal secrets on how to become a millionaire. What An American Hedge Fund does give you is an honest story of how one person, Timothy Sykes, was able to defy the odds and achieve the American Dream.

I’ve read An American Hedge Fund twice and I highly recommend this book if you have any interest in the stock market or if you’re looking for an easy read that’s entertaining and honest. An American Hedge Fund brings a spiritual enlightenment to finance, which is really cool.

I`ve also ordered Tim’s DVD (Pennystocking) and frequent his blog at www.timothysykes.com. I would recommend both as well. Tim’s DVD is educational and his blog is honest. The short-selling strategy will only make a strong trader better and help a novice trader become successful in the markets.

  • I found it to be a great read Tim. Not only inspiring but straight to the point with the ups and downs of your experience (and addiction) in trading.
  • brent
    Wow, what a day
  • Ryan
I am not on your TimAlert yet, but how was TGC trade today? Went from $3.37 all way to $2.70 on 1000 shares. Nice profit. FPP was good too from $6.00 to $5.40.
  • DaBear
I pulled in 1.8 points shorting easy to borrow ROYL today. Did nobody else see this? it had almost no support.
  • DaBear
I dont know it looked like a no brainer to me any way
  • brent
DaBear: WTG. I forgot about that one. looked at late. woulda, shoulda, coulda...
  • brent
rambone: holding o/n COIN... looking for minimum $5 to the downside, maybe more. What would u suggest S/L from here. Yes, i know it is your opinion...
  • brent
BTW tim, the return to where i post works great until the 40 plus posts.... sorry, couldn't resist.. lol...
  • TIMFan
Hey, Tim, why do you sell into your recommendations? Why do you dump stocks onto your alert subscribers/? I guess the stocks are so thin that you need some absorbing cushion...good work, Jonathan Lebed-wannabe!
  • Ryan
Tim, are you holding your TGC o/n? Anyone else here holding TGC o/n?
  • reader
    lol, he's back
  • dude75
    TIMFan,
When are you gonna' start swearing again?
  • balls...or just plain nuts...
Tim Fan, let me sell my ballsAlerts!
  • getshorty
I closed my remaining TGC position at 3.82, too bouncy and I need a good night sleep.

Will clean my head, account closed with a $1100 increase in 3 days. Will have to cool off, stand aside and analyze new opportunities with a cool head. Hot head already costed me $200 today for shorting extra 1000 shares of TGC at 2.62 and then covering at 2.82.

Made huge gain this 3 days, will cool off before trading again.
  • brent
Ya know TIMFan: I came late to this site. It
  • PCola
    LOL.

I gotta say Tim, you have some pretty well off followers to get $42million in volume to "dump into" on your alert of TGC!

HYGS $14mil volume today. Damn man, that's some pretty major power you're wielding...

TimFan, there are plenty of reasons to dislike Tim, and I'm sure he'd admit it himself, but your reasons are retarded, because they're totally false.
  • dude75
    getshorty,
Thats great. I couldn't get into TGC, no shares... missed a good entry position. Happy 4 u though.
  • robertsdave23
Does anybody else see CHQ as a "cup and handle" break out for tomorrow?
  • noobtrader.08
    awesome review! ;)
  • TIMFan
Rednecks, this is how business is done - your alerts are pump alerts and he is going to be right because he/his owners/their affiliates are buying up stock MUCH earlier than the alert - money is needed to absorb the sell off and exit for them, and that is where you, and many of the dumbasses who get the emails and texts and other spam, come in - to hold the bags.

The odest trick in the books - nothing new on Wall Street, same sheep, same pigs.
  • TIMfan, too funny, but i gotta respond to your fallacies, i love it when people cant believe my biz model is totally honest:

    1. i have no other people, no trading partners, its just me and my 2000 shares and like i said, me and my followers are blips on stocks trading tens of millions of shares...

    2. buy before i pump? dude, i'm a friggin short seller, at least get your facts straight...and yes, i did short before my alert, but then again, i tipped my hat off i'd short in my friggin pre-market post!

    3. i covered my short waaaaay too early, as is usual, if anybody followed my alerts, they're now up 20% on the TGC short and 15% on the HYGS short...2 perfect calls, intraday and probly multiple day

    4. the problem with u is that u've obviously been abused by some scammer, thats not me...u really need to watch my DVD, i go into all these patterns so eventually u wont even need me
  • Oswald2001
Boiler Room Basher mindf***ers work by confusing the issue by distraction and focusing the attention on them.

Then, the thread (actually 2 threads, so far) are about the sociopathic mindf***er and NOT the business at hand.

Why not just ban the sociopaths?

Boiler Room Bashers are not looking for explanations. They are only looking to control and dominate.

No doubt his bosses are mad because you exposed their scams.

Anyway, would you please just ban him (and his other ID's) so we can remain 'on course'.

    Thanks.
  • noobtrader.08
Tim, that dumb-fucking-cuntbag aka TIMFan IS a redneck.

TIMFan, you insult the intelligence of every poster on here. You think we don't know what a fucking scammer is?! Moron!
  • trainerdave
Robert I am with you CHQ is gonna breakout tommorrow. What do you think Tim CHQ definately looks like its gonna run. Chart pattern great. High volume on two up days low on two down and good volume today candle engulfs both down days. This is a winner IMO
  • TIMFan
Yeah, the scammer is one who buys before the recommendation and sell into the recommendation...work is in teh gutters of Wall Street that this douchebag is being investgated by the SEC as we speak - they do not go on nothing - probable many of the scammed rednecks called in...

And, about banning - your buddy Tim bans your IP, and not a handle - so no matter what your handle, you can not post any longer...obviously, you have not been banned because you are either another handle, or a blindass follower...I think the former is true though.

Why would you ban people who have an opposing viewpoint? Why do you use your subscribers like sheep to drive/support your exit points? Why do you sell early? because you do not know how fickle they are...you have not faith in how much faith they have...

So, pump them, Tim, and dump onto the crash test dummies.

Tim- can't put the book down!

    Warning: Vent coming...

I now know exactly how you felt after missing the PDO drop from 29 to the 25ish a few weeks ago. I have been trying to reserve shares all week, but for some reason I made a very undisciplined buy before closing yesterday and ruined my chance to short PDO at all today (who knows if I would have gotten the shares or not). We all know what PDO decided to do today.

In the past three months, my account started around 29k, I was able to get it up to 33k mostly shorting stocks on your watchlist. Having to work every day, I decided to try going the 'value investor' route for the past month- while doing pretty much every wrong thing possible. Needless to say, my account sits around 24k now.

Goals: finish Tim's book and watch DVD before making any new trades.

It is extremely hard mentally not feeling like I'm down from the 33k and not the original 29k. This makes it hard to not to want to try and make 10k in one trade- which is why I was so ticked at missing out on PDO today.

Thanks for letting me rant- I always make sure to post after hours:)

Tony- too bad GST didn't breakout today!
  • timfan, i have no problem with opposing viewpoints, even if they are factually inaccurate, as i've proven, but if u start spamming again, gone u will be
  • great review, couldnt have said it any better myself
  • Zykosis
no offence to tim's followers/readers (i am one), but TIMfan, do you really think they have the money to really move a stock so tim could cover into it? afterall, we're rednecks right?

TIMfan just doesn't want to admit to himself that everything he's studied relating to the markets is bullshit. All the indicators on his screen, no wonder why he comes off like somebody that was abused in the market.
  • be-the-ball
anyone else wish that when you posted a comment it brought you back to where you were instead of taking you back to comment #1?

    kinda annoying
  • Oswald2001
"anyone else wish that when you posted a comment it brought you back to where you were instead of taking you back to comment #1?"

I would view such a feature as an added benefit to an already beneficial site.

    Always nice to upgrade.
  • LAPaul
A note for the book reviewer: You can track most of his trades mentioned in the book. Just go back to the date Tim mentions and you can reconstruct entry and exit point and look at priceaction and volume. An American Hedge Fund teaches how to trade too :)
  • TIMFan
What a joke this site is - Tim, it is obvious that you are manic depressive form the WSW show, but I did not know that you and your admins can have so many multiple personalities....for all dummies out there, the shill posts here are so obvious you need to have a twinkie for a brain not to realize yourself...

Same shit is what Tim and Lebel and them did on Silicon Investor and some other crappy pump sites...

Oswald2001 - "I would view such a feature as an added benefit to an already beneficial site."

Who the fuck would say something like these unless they are a gay stalker or a shill?
  • Oswald2001
OK, so...now...will you flush the sociopath?
  • noobtrader.08
LAPaul... I know this (I wrote the review)... however, if you haven't a clue how to trade stocks to begin with, going back and looking at Tim's entry/exit points means nothing (well not "nothing", but... (imho)

Tracking his entry/exit points is an exercise, albeit a good one, but that doesn't teach me the variables... I want to learn to fish... run a marathon, not run a sprint... education is what I want...

I would say however if you have experience as a trader that going back and looking at Tim's entry/exit points, the reader might/would be able to pick up Tim's pattern... not my virgin eyes though...

    Cheers.
  • Ban Timfan...i think i speak for all of us when i say were sick of hearing his ignorant rants.
  • noobtrader.08
    seconded... ban the redneck.
  • balls...or just plain nuts...
I'm kind of glad weirdo losers post criticisms here. When they accuse Tim of pumping stocks for personal gains at the expense of followers, it just further reaffirms for me how real Tim really is! His trades, listed in detail, show that sometimes his followers, myself included, do make more money on these stocks than he does.

I know who I am; not a shill, not an affiliate; but I am making money with Tim's stategies. Thanks Tim!

So, why are you, like a Stepford Wife, repeating that it's a great site, great strategies, this great that great? Why are you defending anyone other than yourself?
  • Hey TIMFan or TMIAfn is how your dyslexic ass would spell or type it!
Go watch your fucking Rosetta Stone DVD's and learn how to fucking spell! It's [the] not [teh] and [they] not [tehy]!!!!!!
If you are going to post on here and distract all of us from a common goal, please I beg you... Hooked On Phonics, Rosetta Stone, BUY IT!!!
I myself am a small fish when it comes to some of the peeps on here like my boy Tony Ellis and yet everything I have followed from T Sykes has made me more money than any other method/theory, strategies, whatever.
We are all sorry that you can't make money trading or whatever the fuck it is that you are trying to do on your NON Spell checking Commodore-64!
Go blog on imadouche.blogspot.com or something!

    Seriously!!!!!
  • There was a time that I really enjoyed reading and participating in the comments, now this is just a waste of time.

Tim, sorry your success has attracted such douche-bags.
  • DaBear
TimFan I have been a TIM fan sence nov 07 and I have never seen Tim be anything but completly honest
  • YngvaiMalmsteve
Man, I step in here to see that this has become like a Yahoo message board
  • dude75
    Hello Yng,
I've got your blog bookmarked. Entertaining. Useful for you too I'm sure, to get head straight at the end of the day. & I sure can relate.
  • YngvaiMalmsteve
Yeah, Dude75, it is useful in getting my head straight. I think it will really help me iron out mistakes in this game. Hopefully others reading it can learn from my f-ups too.
  • Evan
    Tim,

You're killing me man- I should be sleeping!!! I leave for Brazil in the morning- but I'm on page 128 and loving it! They should definitely make a movie depicting the four years- I'll be your stunt double at the Tulane parties and 'at sea' abroad learning trip. Would love to know who the famous trader was that you got to shake hands with in the airport hangar-size office:) Have a great two weeks- I'll be sidelined from civilization and trading:(
