Lots of people are taking the next few days off—I’ll be right here as low volume days sometimes off the best pumps/ridiculous price surges to take advantage of…HYGS could be a prime example and so it’s my first possible choice for shorting, although it could run a lot more before it’s time to puke:
Hydrogenics Corporation (USA) (HYGS)
This has gone full fledged Supernova/vertical on strooooong volume, a clear t ripple over the past 11 trading sessions, a near-double over the past 4….don’t even think about shorting this one until a.) volume fades b.) it goes negative on the day in the afternoon…odds actually favor buying, even though I’m way too scared to do that—the patient short seller will be rewarded with a 50 cent intraday drop…reserve shares early, every morn, just in case it’s the big drop day
Tengasco, Inc. (TGC)
My $1.70 TIMalert buy now makes me look genius, even if I, along with just about all of you, sold for nice profits too quickly…I’ll be looking to short this one soon too, reserve shares just in case, but don’t be looking to short aggressively anytime soon.
Converted Organics Inc. (COIN)
Up due to CNBC hype, fluffy news and cuz it’s just down soooo much…let this thing spike, can’t wait to short it again, reserve shares early
IndyMac Bancorp, Inc. (IMB)
I would never ever try to bottom fish this thing as it could collapse at any moment…that said, respect Lionmaster’s research skills and he’s loaded up at higher prices so keep an eye on it…def. wouldn’t short either, risk-reward sucks
Rediff.com India Limited (ADR) (REDF)
Warned some people not to short in the morning, was dead right as there was a nice 30 cent spike…missed out on the bigger picture drop later in the day from $7.30 to $6.60…really wanted another day of spiking (increase odds of short squeeze collapsing), ah well, there’ll be plays like this mama says

Evan, that’s what I was thinking. Looks like very strong resistance. It should run a little if it does but not sure how likely.
As a follow up to my post yesterday about my insider transaction program, CVH is up over 8% today, and INT is abotu flat from when I posted. As I said then, I usually just take 5% from these since they are highly liquid big board plays, and I put a lot into each one.
How do you guys find potential breakout plays? There are like thousands of stocks under $5 and waiting for stocks to appear on Yahoo’s Biggest Gainer list seems to be missing the boat.
it takes time to develop you’re own strategy Castanova, I mix following the message boards and chat rooms, with some good ole fashioned tech. analysis…
Castanova, you have to narrow down the 8000+ stocks to a select few that may be near resistence points, and then just watch and wait. You’ll always miss some, and there will be plenty of times that none of your selected ones actually breaks out, so you have to have patience and discipline.
QBIK is moving nicely to the upside.

HBAN has no pattern now. Seems like 6 is solid support after it’s been tested numerous times. Better for a ride on the long side now but I’m done with it for now. I need patterns that are predictable and HBAN is acting too bouncy. I would never hold a banking stock long or short overnight. Heard European banks are set to raise interest rates tomorrow so oil is going to spike and our markets are going to plunge.
If ABAT finally breaks under 5.50 it’s a better play. Volume continues to sink. Don’t think it can hold its gains from the last 2 weeks.
QBIK finally broke loose after a 1 day delay. This one is going to continue running as it has no resistance and the breakout today is on high volume. imo
QBIK looking to pop through 4.99-5.00
I want in to QBIK but have limited funds so I will watch. Maybe learn, No definitely learn!

Yea, I been in QBIK since Monday when it showed the breakout pattern. Almost gave up on it yesterday till last 10 minutes when end of day buying came in confirming possible spike today.
I missed out on butt loads of money back in May when I kept watching PDO shoot straight up, after I sold out at 10.15! Trying to keep my eye on all the false hope companies that everyone wants to pile on to in this market!
TGC-I got in at 2.88 yesterday
Just sold 1000 of my 1500 TGC, for a .20 per share profit, holding the other 500 as long as I still feel comfortable.

APWR is going to have a big drop coming by end of day today or tomorrow. 20 written all over it. Numerous breaches of 24.25 low from Fri. CMG- a big cap is going down for the count soon too. Yesterday was first sign of breakdown on dip under 80. Going with the PUTS on that one. Happened to ABAT yesterday. Dipped under the 5.50 mark once. Today you’re seeing another dip and a failure of support. They usually tank rather fast on the second breakdown of support. Same thing with COIN. Held the intraday 6.50 mark yesterday once. Today, even though 6.50 is no longer support you can use it as a guideline. Never short a stock on first failure of support. More often than not a bounce happens on that number.

Damn TGC, all told on I only ended up making about 50 bucks! I was up like 200+ when I sold the first 1000, then my 500 position broke me when the stock fell off!
Tim, I had the EXACT same idea as your short on HYGS! I think I am learning. Unfortunately E-trade won’t allow me to short stocks under 3$. Congrats.

QBIK looks like failed breakout. TGC possibly moved sideways rest of day and drift higher holding support at previous resistence 3.37.
If you can find shares COIN is going to touch 5 on the next break of 6. The major rise yesterday, even though it broke many resistance lines, was artificial in nature.
Market came back from the dead yesterday on GM. You won’t see a repeat of that. When the auto numbers came in GM’s drop was less than expected. Tomorrow could be black Thursday on the planned interest rate hike in Europe.

Plug is currently loaded with buyers and few sellers. No ideal chart but it looks like a quick .10
I just pulled a Sykes–HYGS started to move while I was on the phone with a reporter (for the Indianapolis Business Journal, of all places), so my entry and exit were horrible, but I shorted 5k HYGS @ $2.25 and then bought back at $2.08. Total profit after commission of $810.
Oh, and that was in my TOS account, so it’ll show up on Covestor. Wohoo!
Watch QTWW if it can get some volume see ya this thing will explode. Contrary to popular opinion it has not fallen like SATC did after earnings, which by the way has currently bounced off 50day MA

I just confirmed with the TOS trade desk that I have now made my max day trades for this 5 day period, so now I’ll have to hold my HYGS short until tomorrow. Still safe, so far, but what are the odds of it bouncing back over 2.20?
Market on edge. Look at AG stocks continue to crumble. IPI should test 50 at this rate which is next support level. POT could go down to 200. Those numbers could be tested by tomorrow which will be D day.

There are a lot of plays so it’s hard to follow them all since we’re looking for the most bang for your buck. Coal stocks are getting murdered right now while natural gas stocks are up in a down market. Tomorrow if oil has a superspike to 150 level coal stocks could bounce back. I’m looking to start positions in JRCC(50 support bounce) and MEE(80 support bounce) on the long end. This huge correction is a buying opportunity.
On the short end I’d say DRYS on the high price of oil. I can see 60 coming soon on a break of 70. CMG on a break of 80 if it happens. IPI and POT are two others I been in.

avoid charts like that. Trying to time falling knives can be dangerous. All those small hot oil plays from last month are getting crushed even with oil at record highs. However, as I say that, long term support for SSN is at 3 so risk to reward isn’t bad.
