How I Predicted a 15% Stock Spike, Screwed It Up A Bit & Made TIMalert Subscribers $10,000+

Posted by timothysykes on Tue 1st of Jul, 2008 12:53:52 PM

When I sent out a buy alert on CNEH to TIMalert subscribers at 3:30PM last Friday—after personally buying 1,500 shares at $4.60—I told everyone “I fully expect $5+” because as I wrote in THIS post over the weekend, it really was the most perfect setup, technically and fundamentally, I’ve seen this year. No matter that TMK labeled me a pumper (and then changed his blog post later once I was proven right, LOL kids…especially those who are too afraid to show their trades openly on Covestor…yeah I said it) and several people questioned whether the company was paying me for such a glowing review, I called it like I saw it (just like I always do) and as the stock gapped higher and spiked Monday morning all the way to $5.40ish before 11AM—that’s a 17% gain for you kids keeping track at home—I felt pride mixed in with some regret.

beautiful breakout How I Predicted a 15% Stock Spike, Screwed It Up A Bit & Made TIMalert Subscribers $10,000+

The regret was due to me being a lil bitch—even more than TMK—for having sold within minutes of the market open, at $4.88 for a predictable $400 profit, not because the stock was showing any signs of weakness (that didn’t happen until $4.99), but because I was so determined to close out the month/quarter over $20,000, which I did, now at $20,272, up 14% for June, 17% on the quarter and 63% since November 2007 (how you like me now you sissy value investors?)

What can I say; petty human milestones mixed in with me not being comfortable buying/holding breakouts. Did the same thing with previous perfect TIMalert pick TGC, sold it for a quick 5% gain, stock went up another 20% the next morning! Everyone knows I much prefer shorting…

The good news is, as I’m gonna repeat time and again, my shortcomings mean little to your trading. Since I’m honest about them, you know that if I exit a stock, it’s me playing it safe, being a wus, whatever—it’s worst-case/safe way to play it scenario so adjust to suit your personality. Infinitely more importantly, this proves yet again I know how to spot these big movers so I’ll just continue picking ‘em and you guys take it from there.

Oh yeah, the pride part, here’s a list of all this pick’s winners:

Mitil: CNEH…bought at 4.98 sold at 5.40 made about $630…thanks tim

BJPN has made about $800

Dave Roberts made a quick $200 before going to work!

PCola is now 2 for 2 going in with me on TIMalerts ($ amount?)

Lmsmith made $300

Dude75 made $250ish

Ryan made $470

Wes even made $50 on 100 shares!

Reaper made $1,315

GT4 made at least 60 cents/share ($ amount?)

GetShorty made $150

Adam made $450, and $785 in June! Jew yahhhhhhhhhh

and last but certainly not least Mike banked $2,500 on CNEH

All told $7,300 in gains posted by people, several thousand more emailed to me—putting the profit figure over $10,000—and probly much more from people who don’t want me to know how much my picks have made them! Any way you slice it, ‘twas a good pick for all involved.

CMG is ready to go bye bye. Great option play. It breaches 80 this stock has no support till 65 levels from May 07. Very bloated stock in this economy. Restaurant stock with a P/E of 35 in this market. I don't think so.
  • lmsmith
The whole market is getting hammered today---

  • Adam
    Tim congrats on hitting 20k
  • PCola
Tim, I only threw $3K into TOS to start, (but as I told you before am moving a bunch more there in the next few days), and there was actually someone at my desk when you sent the CNEH alert out, so I only bought $1000 worth of that instead of trying to figure out exactly how much buying power I had at the time. So I made about $100 on CNEH and am currently up ~$220 on my HYHY short (which I plan on holding for a while since I wouldn't be able to reshort it later).

So about $320 or just over 10%. Nothing very exciting, sorry.

In at an average of 4.89, out at a limit of 5.30, add my $2050 to your reader gains.
  • Rambone
    brent,

Ya, I got stopped out at 5.60. 5.50 held up like concrete. QBIK acted well into the close. Lots of buying the last 10 minutes. I think tomorrow is the big day for QBIK. GNTA was on my watchlist but forgot all about it. Looking similar to NCEY on the charts.
  • KS
    Sykes,

That TMK kid changes his blog posts all the time. He'll post something, then once proven wrong, he'll go back and change his posts so people won't see his idiotic mistakes. Won't sign up for Co Vestor and only makes posts with his trades at the end of the day and surprise surprise, somehow, always buys at the low and sells at the high. Fishy to say the least.
  • LAPaul
Q: Can I post pictures (charts) on one of your forums? I can't find an upload option
  • Aurelien
    Hey Tim,

63% gain since last November is pretty decent, and the setup you called on CNEH was excellent.

As an investor in CNEH since October 2007 who added more shares as the stock moved downwards throughout the winter, I am happy to say that simply holding and adding to my position in this stock has netted me a 100% gain.

BTW, I got into it based on a value driven assesment of the company, rather then strictly momo driven.
  • Oracle of NYC
Hope you're right about the gap up on TGC tomorrow morning, Keith. I believe it will happen based on the end of day action. Got in @ $3.00 a/h myself. New to the site by the by.
  • teger
    TMK taking shots at Tim:

"Alright, time to address another issue. It appears that Timothy Sykes likes to bash anyone that isn't himself. I don't know exactly why, but it may just be because everybody is putting pressure on his so-called blogging "empire". All the stuff that he posted today I found kinda funny. I guess he really believes that he is the only one right. I'm just here to remind all of you that my services are free. I (and every other financial blogger out there) don't need to use Covestor because I/we have nothing to prove. We don't sell anything, we just provide it for free. If you are a good enough trader, you definitely don't need to offer $300 a year alerts. The trading will pay for everything.

    MK"
  • haha everybody posting has something to prove, whether theyre selling anything or not...otherwise they wouldnt bother posting...sure its all for entertainment purposes but some sites are more pure entertainment than others
  • newty25
    I bought CNEH as well @ 4.65 and out @ 5.28. Thanks.

Tim, any chance you'd extend an offer to those who already purchased a DVD set for the year of TIMAlerts? I'd definitely be interested.

Does anyone else think PINN might be shaping up for something in the next few days?
  • A
Well said Tim. TMK seeks to prove that he can turn $8,500 into $50,000 in 3 months, so get out of here with that "I have nothing to prove" BS. I stopped reading his blog for its lack of transparency. Anybody can set up a blog, post trade results after the fact, and look like a stock market genius.

And if you can turn $8,500 into $50,000 in 3 months, why are you going back to $8,500 to prove that you can do it again? Why not turn $50,000 into $1,000,000???
  • TheDude
TMK has "joked" in his comments before that he doesn't post some of his bad trades. Also, when he posts his usual enormous profits, I've caught incorrect math on more than one occasion based on his own buy and sell prices. So it's pretty clear to me that there's some serious number fudging going on.
  • trainerdave
Anyone ever watch Tim's old interview with Neil Cavuto on you tube wow what an ignoranus. I'm not talking about Neil either.
  • phyo
IMB is going to drop like a rock..mark my words..short it guys..you won't regret
  • jim
hey tim.... why dont you put 20% of the cillantro fund into this........ oh wait i forgot 500,000$ would equal out to 100,000 shares of this piece of shit, which is liquid by your standards, that is why you canniot make money withouyt a small account. newbies you have beeen warned.
  • johnnyvento
Hey TomT I saw that, Tim shouldn't have come into someone else's chat room scaring people... I guess we can't help his personality
  • timothysykes
u're right u can't help me teaching from experience...was dead on that there'd be a morning spike on REDF...wait to short in the afternoon, couldve gotten the same entry without the risk
  • johnnyvento
hey rapid responder... observe proper decorum in other people's chat rooms... don't root for people to lose, that makes you a dick. If you want to be a dick, don't be a teacher... if you want to be a teacher, don't be a dick... you decide

BTW, I think you have plenty to offer people... but those two mentalities conflict with each other
  • timothysykes
other people's chatrooms? LOL its practically all my pennystocking DVD students in there! and i'm gonna be a dick cuz its gonna toughen u guys up...u take anything personally and you're not tough enough to survive/flourish in this nasty niche...rooting for people to fail, c'mon grow up peter pan, i rott for the odds to catch up with people when they take on an undisciplined trade...try to understand all the $ u r or arent making matters little, this is all tuition for your education as this is a marathon if u learn properly
  • timothysykes
u people are waaaay too soft, and its gonna come back to bite u unless i help u become as scared of a trader as i am...much rather u see miss out on big gains than risk big losses...understand?
  • timothysykes
and PS FUCK decorum, we're not sissy value investors here, grow some balls
  • teger
hahaha. seriously, some of you guys are MARSHMALLOW soft. grow some fucking balls. i don't even know why anyone would be offended by what Tim has to say. he's funny and lively to read...if it strikes too close to home, maybe you're the dummy that threw on a bad trade, no? keep it up, tim
  • johnnyvento
that chatroom is specifically for the Muddy method... not the Timothy Sykes method. You show disrespect to Mike_13th by saying that the room is full of YOUR fans. I think there is ample room for overlap... but stop acting like you are the alpha male in that room... you most certainly aren't. I have respect for your knowledge just like I have respect for his... but 13th is the kindest person in the world, and he is making $50k a month trading... I'm in that room day after day also trying to make calls and contribute to the room... and here you come bounding in with your fucking asshole self rooting for people to lose money... take a step back and chill the fuck out... do whatever you want on your own site, don't disrespect people in there. I'll SAY IT AGAIN- I respect you and I think you have valuable things to say... but I'll keep pounding on your fucking attitude in the greenonthescreen room if that's how you want to play it. Peter Pan? Give me a fucking break. I'm in there all day every day trying to make calls, you stop in during Livestock for about 30 seconds. You want to act like you're the only one with balls, well insulting people doesn't give you balls.

I don't think my post will have any effect on your personality, but if you come into the chat rooting for people to lose money because they don't know as much as you, then expect a fucking earful from me. THEY DON'T CALL ME JOHNNY "VENTO" FOR NOTHING. Bring it on bitch.
  • LOL mike plays mostly the long side, i play mostly the short side, who the fuck cares whose people r there...exclusively muddy's method u say? listen to muddy's interview--he never shorts...neither did mike until i came along...when someone shorts into a pattern i KNOW is likely to squeeze, you're damn right i'm gonna say something...u really think i'm rooting for people to fail? r u really that dumb? just like a teacher slapping a kid when he's bad, i'm gonna chastise anybody and everybody when they make a trade that goes against my teachings, they can listen to me or not

and i'd be in there all the time if the damn thing didnt slow my computer down so much--too many chatrooms everywhere these days, soon there'll be a solution...

seriously grow up, i have better things to do
  • johnnyvento
I'm on your side timmay... just don't be rude... telling me to 'grow up' doesn't help much. I know you want to take credit for all of mike_13th's shorts, but the truth is that Muddy also shorted... regardless of what he said on the interview... so don't pat yourself on the back so much... you'd know more history if you actually were around more... but still, you have good things to say, just don't be a dick.
  • i'm getting ruder by the day, u gotta see the dumb emails i get, people not respecting the patterns i lay out time and again...
  • TIMFan
Tim, why do you sell without telling anyone to sell? Why to you buy before you tell anyone to buy? I know that these pump and dump worked in the stupid days of 1998 and 1999, but are there still stupid people who carry your trades out in this day?

By the above I mean - the TIMAlerts is a good tool, but you are acting before the alert and then you are selling into the public....why would the subscribers be willing to pick up your dumps?

I am not a basher, but a fan, but it does not make any sense.

    TIMFan
  • TIMfan, WTF r u talking about? i alert members to my trades, near realtime as possible...i usually close out my positions too quickly so the longer they hold the better...and stocks like TGC and HYGS are plenty liquid so if anyone decides to ride my coattails--not that they should--they've been in pretty good shape

TIMalerts is simply an alert service of what i'm doing, not w.hat anyone else is doing...ideally people will use it to learn how i trade successfully and then replicate that on their own

and its $30/month, i already have over 100 testimonials in just a few weeks showing how people have made more than an entire years subscription in 1 trade

    understand?
