Breaking News Rumor: Trader Monthly / Doubledown Media Flat Broke, Forced To Turn Off Air Conditioning

Posted by timothysykes on Fri 27th of Jun, 2008 11:17:08 AM

Wow, the immature prick that I am, I’ve dreamed of this day ever since their sick twisted son of a bitch editor-in-thief Randall “The ideal reader is 29 years old, making $400,000 a year, and spending all of it.” Lane’s smear campaign of me waaaay back in early 2007, but now it looks to finally be coming true. Rumors are flying that after losing an arbitration case with Private Air (who after “buying” their magazine, they allegedly stiffed), now they are flat broke and have turned off the air conditioning in their midtown Manhattan offices!

Karma’s a bitch, huh Randy?

It gets worse, apparently the Refco carcass is also demanding the money Doubledown owes them!

Doubledown never became a publicly-traded stock, but based on their many sins of the past, media manipulation, enemies they made along the way, lawsuits, etc.–well, they’re a prime example of how corrupt and incompetent most tiny companies are.

Randy, FYI, next time you might as well do a pump and dump BEFORE your business fails, the key to this game my friend is capital…and you ain’t got none.

Wish i was lucky... Guess i don't get it. Went long on ABAT breakout only to get spooked out for a loss of $130 and now it looks as though it may be going on up... I don't know. seems i go 1 step forward and 3 back... read the book watch the video... what am i missing?
  • brent
boy am i P^&(^ed look at ABAT go now that i am out
  • brent
ABAT going to be a double top failure ???????????????????????
  • Brent you read the book and watched the DVD? That's pretty good but you've also got to have some experience seeing these things move since the chart patterns don't always stay the same or do the same things. As Tim says time and time again, "patterns evolve"
  • lmsmith
Wow....KHB is moving- WTF is going on???
  • Rambone
Brent what price did you buy ABAT at?
  • brent

  • sniper6
earnings today- not quite as bad as expected. temporary glitch IMO
  • dude, brent, ABAT ain't even breaking its high of $6.05, so just like you said its showing an intraday double top, looks very scarrry for longs here i'd say. i can't do jack since my account is frozen but in my opinion ABAT looks like a good intraday scalp of around 20-25 cents, which is not bad of a gain if you can afford 1000 shares
  • brent
i am on my last bullet if i use until next Thursday. Sure would like to make it count for something...

Reason I ask is never buy a stock on the first attempt at a resistance break. For the most part stocks take several attempts to break resistance and likewise with a break down of support. Going back to last year 6 looks like resistance so I would have held off on a first attempt. Look at two big caps MGM and LVS as recent examples of support.

MGM hit 40 support a few times. I would never short MGM on the first attempt at 40. Believe it or not it's good to buy a stock that hits support as many times you get a nice spike. Eventually after 2 more attempts the stock tanked. I'd put in a short sell in this case at 39.90. A dime below support to make sure it's not a fake read.

Look at LVS from yesterday to today at 50. Similar pattern to MGM. Nothing works 100% in the market but the majority of times if you study charts this is my take on them.

thx rambone, and as we speak ABAT is coming off its 1st intraday attempt. Good obserationg Ben

Rambone: interesting charts indeed. and CNBC just talked about how Las Vegas is seeing lowest discounts since 9/11.
  • sniper6
    bot 500 GSS @ $2.88
  • Rambone
Take a look at COIN. Jun 12 held the 6 month support line of 6. Bounced to 7.70 2 weeks later. Yesterday and today finally broke that mark touching 5.55 twice. Currently at 6. It can't break resistance which was support. This stock is going to touch 5 within a week or two. This is the type of stock you could have a multi day hold on. Problem here is volume sucks and the stock is no longer in play. Money can still be made just takes longer.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I'm always having issues with Mogulus when streaming live. Could be because I'm going through a proxy...I dunno.

And the chat won't work to save mine OR Tim's lives :(

Nice breakout on ABAT, in 500 @ $6.09.

    Brent,

Good work spotting the trend. Just work on entry and exits. Look at BPG I mentioned this earlier. Broke resistance then came right back. I bought it as it hit high of the day on the second attempt. Same pattern as ABAT today. They usually take out resistance after several attempts. High of the day on second attempt is a good buy indicator. Yesterday I bought URRE before the break assuming at 3.98 it would take resitance. I lost $.10 a share on that one. Didn't even follow my own rules. Stick to those basic rules. You won't bat 100% but they will limit bad entries.

  • brent
i see what you mean on BPG and ABAT for that matter. Sure am trying to break my losing streak. With some help here, maybe i will... Thanks.
  • brent
ABAT: looks like quite a bit of congestion here back in Nov. 07. I guess if oil keeps doing what it is doing then ABAT will challenge the 9.66 high in Oct. 07
  • morrisix
Brent, Have you been in Green on the Screen chat room?
I ask because 13th Floor ( moderator ) has stressed even, whole, numbers, like 6, are areas to be careful of. ( Hard to break thru, up or down.) Many, set stops, exits, taking profits....in these areas. Many of 13th's picks are even based on this theory. Hope this helps a bit.
  • Anyone looking to Short BPG for monday and Tue? I am.
  • YngvaiMalmsteve
BPG is a breakout. I don't know why you would short a breakout....good chance of getting squeezed.

Keep us posted on this POS. He sounds like he is a real ass.
  • turns out i beat everyone to the punch by a few months!
  • Wish I had read this entry earlier. I am still waiting for $1,025 for work I did, in good faith, for this "company." They blew me off for months and now have filed Chapter 11 so I'll never see that money. Thanks for fucking me out of an entire month's rent, Doubledown Media LLC. I would say a barrage of nasty things here, but you'll get yours, CFO Paul Fish.
