See Tim's full bio HERE. Tim turned a few thousand dollars into a few million by taking small gains time after time on hundreds of volatile penny stocks, discovering that his trading strategy, while consistently successful, works best for those with smaller accounts.
Determined to teach others this PennyStocking trading strategy (learn more HERE), he went back to his original $12,415 roots (already $33,956 even though the stock market has crashed) to show everyone how to turn thousands into millions, even while having a life (somewhat) and making plenty of mistakes.
Hard work, Determination and Know How.
Hard work to learn how the greatly misunderstood niche of penny stocks provides opportunities every now and then on which you should pounce.
Determination to seek those probable profits out and know how in order to actually profit from them.
Long story short, wait for stocks that are extremely volatile - for whatever reason - and then aim to take small profits (between 10 and 50% within a few hours, days or weeks) here and there, either from betting on higher or lower prices (yes, you can make $ betting on lower prices, it's called Shortstocking (learn more HERE).
As Tim explains in several ALL-NEW instructional DVDs (see them HERE) and in over 900+ blog posts, penny stocks are the most hyped and corrupt niche in the entire investment world. These two qualities make them the easiest to profit from (legally) because the vast majority of people who play penny stocks are suckers and all-around ignorant people. If you have any intelligence whatsoever, you have a clear advantage and it's like playing basketball against mental midgets.
This is the #1 FAQ (see more HERE) and it is answered in THIS blog post.
Of course, that's just a brief introduction - to receive a full education, there is Tim's book An American Hedge Fund which is the story of his remarkable rise and lessons learned.
To truly increase your odds at profit, Tim has designed an entire set of detailed instructional DVDs, covering all the variables that amount to over 24 hours of instruction (see them all HERE)!
shorted PDO @ 22.79
well looks like they got me in at 22.50
adam why the hell would u short PDO here? down 15% in 1 day isnt good enough for u, u think its gonna be down 30%? of course it can be, but thats far too aggressive a short, especially at this time of the day, wait for an afternoon fade or before the market close, otherwise u open yourself up to a bounce, making short selling look bad when its really your fault for not playing by the risk-reward rules!
anyone short CRED
Tim, You say don’t touch commodity and earnings plays, and don’t short in the morning. What am I missing here?
shorted CRED at 18, still waiting for ROYL to bounce.
Mark, you’re missing, or rather i’m missing discipline…its been the problem with me since the start…stick by the actual rules and u’ll have great odds of profiting, deviate and you might make more, but your risk goes way up, understand?
i covered it, lost $20, thought it would break 22
Sold out of my long MXC position at 9:38pm, but was screwed and given a lower price of $38, when clearly it was at around $44!!! TOS is pissing me off!!!
But! i only used a fraction of my capital to reduce my exposure and im still up from CPSL yesterday ;)
Eric T, are you using limit orders or market orders- you should talk to them if you used a limit for your MXC trade, cuz that’s not supposed to happen
looks like todays action will be mostly fades, I am looking to hold my short position in FPP overnight to try and make a descent gain
Burky, what are your thoughts on KYUS, I’m attempting to reserve shares
Got it. Thanks. KYUS (commodity play, mailer or not) burned me big time. Makes me wanna stick to your rules. By the way, liked your sports comment. Hate em too. Opiate of the masses.
MXC 38.77 short only had 40 shares available
Tim, where’d my Timbucks go? I’m logged in! U think you were pissed at missing PDO- the festering rage at my missing Timbucks will make that look like…it’s bad, let me tell you!
No shares available of KYUS on TOS…also looking at BWMS, thoughts on that anyone?
nevermind- apparently just a glitch. They just showed up after I bashed my moniter and kicked my neighbor’s cat. Wait, that was my cat! Blinky, you all right buddy?
on a more serious note,
-shorted pdo at $29, covered at $25
-still holding my MXC from Tues.
CRED is looking like FPP and PDO yesterday, strong start, meager finish. I’m probably going to hold my short at 18 overnight unless it cracks 17.10 and gives me another $500 or so. Holy shit, just as I said that, it dropped to 16.75. I had a cover order in at 17 and cancelled it just in time!!! Woo HOO!!!
ahhh, this is chickenshit. this isn’t even a fucking rally, DJIA is gonna be down 100 or more points today. short the airlines.
sniper, who cares about making wild markt predictions, our opinions are meaningless, its all about profiting from PREDICTABLE patterns…odds of a dow tankage of 150+ are probly 20-30%, odds of PDO/FPP closing weak and gapping down tomorrow 70-90%
EVAN I used market. I am so pissed. Talking to a guy at the trade desk of TOS, and told me that a floor governor on the floor is looking into the situation. SIGH…any of you guys experience something like this? Where you sell out of a long position and the price they give you is $7 off? They said its b/c its on the AMEX and something about primary exchange prices.
yah, i hear you, just bitching is all. I’m not buying a god damn thing today except some fuckin malt liquor
I’m looking to short MXC or FPP near the end of market close. Looking for the fade and scalp a little. Also going to scalp a little of EMKR at the end of a day if there is a a late rally.
I think even if you shorted FPP here you would still make 1 dollar to the downside easily this things going to tank !
Jeff C - KYUS - I’ve been as undisciplined as Tim at times but fortunately I haven’t had to pay any hard lessons. I understand now not to pick a top but rather wait for weakness. KYUS looks very strong right now - although I’d want to short this thing like crazy if it pushes $4 I won’t. I think Tim would ideally like to see it push $4.80 so it’s at least a double since starting its run at $2.40. I finally ordered Tim’s DVD to understand more of the variables I’m sure I still don’t understand.
Whoa! FPP getting close to my cover price at $5.55!
Hey guys, I have e-trade and have miss the boat on several trade do to “not haveing any” I have been typing E-trade and here is the news!
“Dear Mr. Montague,
Thank you for your message. I was glad to research your inquiry and answer your email. Our Stock Loan department is the specialty department that works closely with your Platinum broker to make sure that all clients have a good variety of stock to short, especially those hard to borrow positions. When a client cannot place the trade online, through your Platinum broker we are able to contact our Stock Loan department to find if shares are in oru inventory and if we do not have them, to try to find these shares outside of E*Trade. Though we currently do not have the ThinkorSwim feature of reserving shares, their procedure of finding available shares when they do not have them in their inventory is exactly the same as ours. However, we want you to know that reserving shares may become available in the near future. For now, please know that the Platinum Group and our Stock Loan department will work hard to make sure that any and all trades you wish to place will be possible and stock readily available.”
Eric T and anyone else even thinking of using market orders- EVER- Don’t. I looked for the two explanations in the forums, but couldn’t find any quick. Tim, don’t kill me for posting an SEC link :)
http://www.sec.gov/answers/limit.htm
-you can also click on the market order link to read about it- just don’t use them to place an order. Ever. Thank you.
actually working on a market vs. limit order article for yahoo finance right now…too bad i havent cloned myself or it’d be done by now
Evan - thanks for the link. Didn’t know I would be given such a dramatic price difference if I used market. =( You all use limit every time for buy and sell orders?
Every time- why give the MARKET makers a chance to reach in and grab your spread- in a matter of speaking:)
Yeah, you need to use limits at ALL times. Market is like writing a blank check.
anybody watching FMD ???
lol sure, now PDO takes out 22
too slow just missed giant crack of $22 on PDO damnit
So far today, PDO is trailing MXC’s movements by 5-10 min. Could just be a coincidence, but very interesting to watch
Short 1,000 FPP at 5.82 seems to be slowly fading. Part gambling here
Tim the reason i went in at 22.50 when i did was bc i saw the spike to 23.29 and then it came back to 22 right away. i guess it was a fake out for the short term but no looks to have been a preview of good things to come
i dont give a shit about spikes and coming down, i care about key levels like $22 being breached, specially when there’s a 9k buy order that tried to hold it up
Shorted 230 shares FPP on this afternoon fade at $5.70. Got a little bounce here to $5.90 as I write this but no worries. Will most likely hold through the close as it will probably gap down tomorrow.
PDO is toast for the rest of the day :)
dont get so cocky guys, i wouldnt be surprised to see a bounce to wipe all these cocky shorts out…remember these stocks havent even had a down day yet and now people think they’ll just collapse
Finally was able to make some money with HYBR and PEIX, closed half my position in hybr since the illiquiduty is scary with up to a 30 cents spread sometimes, right now 15 cents.
I am more confident on this tahn os PEIX since this is not an oil play
Tim thoughts are I can hold on to a bit of pain for a couple of days. Missed out on CNEX and figured long term as to go lower than my entry. Theory hold any water?
Could still tank, but finally out of my MXC- last 10 min. to stressfull watching the BID/ASK
I was just gonna say that we need to take these as what they are…They are supernovas but they are supernovas on the AMEX(most of them at least), commodity plays and some of them actually have earnings and some news behind them. These aren’t true pump and dumps.
Oil is heating up again
looking forward to an opportunity with GBR (aka- shape-shifting name changer). Oh yeah, we’ll dance soon enough.
Just got done talking w/ the trade desk at TOS. They say that when I sold at 9:38pm the AMEX exchange in chicago was not open yet and the price I got was premarket. Then why would I see a different price on my screen? sigh. Also they said that MXC was not liquid at the time I sold and I was %10 percent of the order.
good call i think my patience might be worse than yours ;) MXC and PDO are definitly excitings ones to watch today. if ROYL can break 4.75 i’ll short that over night so avoid PTD
