I’ve been posting about PDO, MXC and FPP the past few days—even taking quick losses totaling $400 shorting FPP and MXC too early (wisely as it turned out, as those losses would now be pushing $5,000!! Uhh yeah $5k in gains from the long side, if I had any talent whatsoever doing that, which I don’t)—but only after we’ve gotten 3 strong up days are they prime for potentially predictable reversals, the extent of which we’ll have to wait and see…by now you guys should know the signs fo what to look for.

    Hey guyswhats your advice with using stops, stop limits, trailing stops on trying to capture some of these early morning spikes when your long and it gaps up?

    Yesterday I got stoped-out on MXC which severly limited my gains and even produced a loss onetime when my stop when off on a random gap dip which was quickly filled.

    If im watching these like a hawk in the first hour of trading for a potential exit should I just execute using market fill orders and have no stop order so I dont get randomly taken out on some random price gap?

    Im up 10% overnight on my FPP,PDO,MXC,ROYL long positions. So im just trying to get out with these gains.

    Hello all, my nickname has changed. Was JMoates77, now see above. Reserved 2000 ROYL and 3000 FPP for shorting today. With how high these suckers are going to open, we may see a complete breakdown. Tim, would you say a stock cracking is when it passes the threshold of where it opened or where it closed the night before? Using your logic, I would think its the latter. Just as Wes is pointing out, he feels okay about the gains he's made, overnight so if it cracks the opening he may be less likely to sell immediately. The fear would set in once the thing actually goes red on the day which would be all the gains it made during the day and in pre-market. Your thoughts?

    Damn its a good day :P Im completly sold out of all my longs by 10 am est. 30 mins into the market and i sold out for a 16.5% cumulative return. Damn its a good day.

    LONG: (all positions were for roughly same $ amts).

    FPP in at 5.8 out at 7.07, 21%
    PDO in at 23.00 out at 26.61, 15%
    ROYL in at 5.51 out at 6.45, 17%
    MXC in at 41.48 out at 47.00, 13%

    strange tug of war going on in the 7.40 range

    It wasnt my plan to try to time the top, I was happy with my overnight 15% return so I got out, I saw volume fade for a bit and therefore I took that signal to get out. I ignored volume yesterday and it cost me my 30% mxc profit, I didnt want to make the same mistake again.

    Plus I had a target 15% return on all these plays, I saw 15% on paper, so I sold according to my plan. I dont regret it. If I had 25k+ in my acct Id be back in scalping here and there, but I dont so I have to take what I can get.

    Still, 16.5% overnight aint bad. Basically I just added 1k to my signon bonus (my equity im trading with).

    Hard to believe I'd say this, but for a stock that's up 26% on the day FPP looks terrible. Granted I shorted WAY to early which loses me some credibility, but this is the most selling I've seen in the stock. And, this gap up just shows the real panic in buying, which is gonna subside soon enough. Looks like the newbies looking for a quick buck are all that's left. I'm gonna short more later today if it continues to play out as it has.

    Missed the initial drop on MMGW as it moved too fast. Got in short at $2.93 when it snapped back. Looking weak now. $2.50 may be hard to crack though.
  • still should never have tried to pick the FPP top, i just don't see how much further it can go/sustain this ind of volume...i'm likin the wall of sellers, not that they mean as much in a non pump and dump, but if we can take out 7.30, should be some good gains

    so w/ my first short sale ever i technically made a profit :) got in at 7.60 and covered CPSL @ 7.50 after it bounced back up from 7.40 probably should have waited until this afternoon to do anything but at least i poped my cherry!

    You basically want to set them a little bit over the maximum swings the stock has made in the last few days. Like a lot of things, it is part art and part science - eventually you get a feel for the volatility of a stock just like you do with whether the stock is going up or down.

    Shorted 200 shares of HYBR at 5.4, making $26 so far, planning holding overnight since it an allready broken pattern ( and that I only have one day trade left until tomorrow, and sure I want to short MXC , PDO or FPP whatever breaks first).

Im not hating on any of these shorters like you are, without TIM's site I wouldnt be making money cuz I wouldnt know about these plays. Mad props to you TIM.

    I'm not even going to bother shorting these energy plays. They are way too strong and there is no telling how high they'll go. That's why I'm buying them :) I'm already up over $350 on SSN today.

    I've got a watch list of oil & gas plays and EVERY SINGLE ONE, except KOG, is in the green today

    hater, i wouldnt want anyone to give me $, i've proven time and again to be undisciplined....you gotta stop thinking like a narrow minded wall street-type, its not just about who makes $ and who loses, its about learning all the angles. when i write about a losing trade, its no longer a bad thing cuz it helps people learn.

    i'm not selling a system, i'm selling education, which is much more valuable cuz people can do with it what they want. think of me as a business professor teaching the basics and ideally having one of my students go onto create an empire. except i'm not teaching entrepreneurship, i'm teaching all the risks and rewards of penny stocks and momentum trading

    I'm long SSN. I got in when it was in the 4's. I don't know why you would short it. The chart looks like the beginnings of another PDO/MXC. Plus, why short it today? It's already way up on the day...remember what Tim said about shorting stocks that are way up on the day

    I'm not going to short these energy plays because I'd be fighting the momentum if I did. Better to stick with pump n dump frauds

    Yng- not shorting, just watching. I've missed out on most of the long opps if you believe we're topping out, which I do (Nice job getting in at $4 btw!).

    I know many of these energy play are going to eventually reverse, but I doubt the short side is going to be as good as the long side was. Just surprised I haven't seen this on on any of the watch lists.

    Looks like new support for SSN is going to be just above $6, could continue to climb for who knows how long. I really suck with these energy plays..

    Shorty- it sucks- BIG TIME. Nothing worse than stalking a play and getting called into a meeting, or to a customers site. Bigger downside is that I try to force trades just because I have some time, and I almost always loose money (last week was a $300 down week)..

    If you have the day trade buying power, then going long and short on intraday swings works well. But for me, with a small account size and limited buying power, I might make 50 cent gains doing intraday shorts on these, versus multidollar gains by buying and holding energy plays for a number of days. So that's why it makes more sense for me to do the latter
