10 Hot Stocks & Other Cynical Views On The Trashy World Of Penny Stocks

VRML Still 1,300 Shares short @ $3.75
LGDI

Both are supernovas, LGDI near its highs, but VRML still up waaay more %-wise…both have fading volume, both can still squeeze shorts even though they’ll probly fail. I’m short VRML cuz it’s up on stock promoters, ill-researched media story and best of all the company is a truly failing biotech microcrap in the same vein as REED, VION, DARA and PSTI—each of which also jumped 200%+ and have now retraced ALL of their gains (PSTI is only halfway, but give its also the newest)

VRML coulda woulda shoulda gone negative on the day, cracking the key $3.40 yesterday, but they smartly issued a fluffy PR I won’t dignify linking to (they formed a committee)(you think they don’t know that would squeeze some shorts c’mon, this is the beauty of pumping–they don’t have actual business to tie them down, their business is getting the stock up!…still, after an initial spike, very nice gradual downtrending all day, great sign, sooner or later, we’ll get some panic selling

HDSN
You can’t stop this air conditioner play (seriously) after it just reported solid earnings…good for 25 cents/share intraday peaks and valleys, if you’re into that sort of thing

OIL
Woooo $125, I don’t care. I hope it goes to $1,000, then we’ll get plenty of great oil pump and dumps and our short selling View definition in a new window profits will be that much greater when the whole world is in the midst of a crippling depression!

STATS
No, it’s not a ticker, just thought I’d share that 8 days into this new month, we just surpassed all the page views for December—that calls for a quintuple jewwwww yahhhhh!

CTDC
Great example of why you don’t short randomly strong penny stocks…Let it have its day in the sun, after all, this eternally trashy company just changed industries specifically to hype itself up! You don’t think I know what I’m talking about? Fine go ahead and short it, you’ll either make 50 cents/share or get squeezed $1-2, have fun with that craptastic risk-reward

SUNV
Great example of why you take profits on the reversal and then you move on when it stops going down

ENT
I’d never buy this kind of breakout, classic classic slight afternoon intraday/multi-month breakout above $3 followed by a little tankage—pros trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy

NNVC
One of the all-time sleaziest companies out there, it ain’t spiking’ cuz its got a future, its spiking cuz its paying to be spiked! Nothing special, just the usual suspects

SYNM
Just because they’ve moved to the Nasdaq doesn’t mean they’re gonna stop paying promoters…it’s a gradual riser now

JYHW
Don’t forget about buying this one if and when it breaks $2.75, they’re a proven pay-to-play pump and dumper

HYBR
Speaking of paying companies, this one is near legendary and is trying to get back in the game. Anybody got a spare $100,000-$200,000 to loan them?

    YNgwai

XRM missed earnings, Net operating loss, debt problems on balance sheet

    you must be confused

Doesn’t matter what the earnings report said. The move is obviously in response to earnings, good or bad. Like Tim says, shorting earnings moves is risky…period.

Point is, over the long haul this is a losing strategy and not a way to amass any type of wealth or consistent income. Its proven fact. people, put your cash in treasuries, you will be happier and safer for it. This guy is walking you right into the lions den

Hey, Sykes hater, if your strategies are successful, then make a website and publically post your trades so we can all see it. Otherwise you’re no different from a pump n dump….all hype with no substance

    yngvai,

every company reports earnings, following your supposed logic, I would never short a company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if the earnings stink, the earnings stink. COIN reported earnings, went up, was a great short.

XRM did post a loss but if u actually read the stats their sales and everything went up and Cash.

Sykes hater, that way I can be like 60 when I retire? With…a million or two? Sweet, sign me up for being old and rich!

I want to be the 30yr old guy driving around in a Porsche, not the guy driving the nice car and then people say “oh yeah, he’s old…of course he can afford that”

    Fuck that noise my man.

This isn’t investing, this is trading…the point is to make it a replacement for working for a bunch of dickheads that could care less if I’m alive or dead.

As Worm would say - you just keep grinding out the rent money bud.

Tim, don’t worry, I took care of the marketing while you were gone!

Ahh, about 90% of the 3.40’s have been taken out. No one loves you any more VRML, time to take a bow..

Dude, COIN’s biggest shortable moves were NOT in response to earnings reports. They were in response to hype & fluff.

    Goose,

I read the stats, I listened to the conference call. They are stalled on their new factory in Vietnam. They have a huge credit problem, they are working on.

They don’t give guidance on forward quarters either…

Weird. Etrade will not let me short OR BUY shares of VRML at all.

Bob - 34?? omg!! Go get your adult diapers you old bastard! :P I think Tim and I are the same age…we’re probably brothers…he should totally give me some money…brotherly love and such.

    Jessb,

You are a moron. The guy you just described is me. Sports car. Check. Apt ownership in Gramercy? Check. However im 27, not 30. YOu are obviously not that bright, as I was alluding to the fact that this strategy is for pikers. You will NEVER, and I mean NEVER get wealthy trolling for nickels ballbag

Yngvie, I work for a large fund, we don’t publicize our trades, hence the reason Im able to live the lifestyle I currently do.

I’m gettin on a plane bound for San Diego in about 2 hours. The greatest thing is that I know what VRML is going to do. Tim, you’re right, just look at the price action. Sometimes (Murphy’s Law) it will bite you in the ass cause you can never see EVERYTHING coming, but this strategy does pay off.

Sykes hater, you are the biggest idiot I have ever met. No shit this strategy doesn’t pan out holding any company for the long term since only 1-3% of companies over the long run actually go down in value. Value is constantly being created in companies. Anyone who has taken a business class knows that. That is not what Tim is contesting. He simply shorts fraudulent companies. In the long run they may eventually go up, but because of their scandelous activities in the short run they have one of the greatest risk/reward ratios out there.

So once again, you are an idiot. Your name shouldn’t be sykes hater, it should read ‘common sense hater’.

    See you guys Monday.

    I tell you what Ynvai,

I shorted XRM at 4.2 when I posted.

We will let the $ do the talking.

How bout getting a handle someone can pronounce, BTW?

  22. 102Goose

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:06 pm

    Cool…alright forget what i said.

  23. 103Bob (VC)

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:07 pm

    Eh? Is VRML being delisted?

  24. 104JensGould

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:09 pm

    100k share order on LGDI?

  25. 105jesseb

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:09 pm

Sykes, yeah…how old are you chief? Are you working with a pathetic amount of money for investing like me?

If you’re doin’ so well, and life is so great…why are you here bitching at Tim? Did he fuck your mother or something? If so, she probably needed it.

You have nothing at stake here…go back to your fund and leave us alone…no one cares what you have to say.

If indeed Tim’s strategy doesn’t work for us…guess what…we’ll go try something else. For now, go make your tons and tons of money and drive your super rad car.

  26. 106YngvaiMalmsteve

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:09 pm

Ball, I’m not saying you can’t have success with the trade. It’s that shorting earnings moves is RISKIER then shorting hype & fluff. Your probability of being right on an earnings move might be 50/50 at best. Your probability of being right on hype/fluff is more like 90.

And I really don’t give a damn whether you can pronounce my handle.

Hey, Bob, I’m 34 too so not everyone here is in their 20’s.

  27. 107be-the-ball

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:13 pm

    yngvai,

i agree with you, what I am saying is that this is a hype and fluff move. I listened to their conference call, nothing there but smoke and mirrors.

Well call me the old man, I’m 45 retired, no I don’t have a porsche, I have a F350 dually,a new jeep wrngler,55 chevy worth 80 grand, a BMW Z4,a new harley, no apt tho, wouldnt pay rent to anyone, I live in a 425,000 house thats paid for and have three rental houses so dumbasses like you can strugle to pay rent every month

Tim, as moderator why dont you just kick this dumbass off here?

  29. 109novalis78

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:17 pm

even though i too think that XRM had a crazy unjustified run-up, you won’t know whether this is the top, yet. good luck though, ball!

  30. 110nsaflyer

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:21 pm

Oh yeah, I’ve been retired for 7 years too asshole

  31. 111be-the-ball

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:21 pm

thanks novalis, short is small for now.

tim isn’t here, he is off working out so he looks good in a hottub on the bachelor…

  32. 112jesseb

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:23 pm

nsaflyer, 45 isn’t old…that’s a great age to retire. It just makes me sad to see so many Americans working until they are 60 or whatever and really having nothing to show for it. We aren’t meant to work for 40 years…it’s not why we have all this great technology and access to information…

I want to retire by the time I’m 35 (i.e. never have to work a job again). Though trading full-time would clearly be a job, on any given day or week or month, I can just say: “I’m gonna go have fun”.

  33. 113Tony Ellis

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:25 pm

    can APWR run?

  34. 114Webster

Who cares when you retire, blog is for trading here fellows.

  35. 115Bob (VC)

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:29 pm

nsaflyer- nice stable you got there! Did you go with the 2 door or 4 door Wrangler JK?

Glad to see that I’m not the ONLY old man here, but we do seem to be in the minority.

Yngvai- what does your screen name mean? I remember someone saying it was a great screen name, so I feel like I’ve missed out on something..

  36. 116jesseb

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

Webster, absolutely right - I’m no longer on a soapbox :P I’ll let you gents discuss makin’ the paper ;)

Sykes hater you play with other peoples money id like to see ur portfolio…u cant argue results….and nothing can be proven to be exact in the market there is no way to prove anything…but stats…for anyone to even take you seriously your gonna have to show something…if you do help run a large fund…why did u even find this site and why are you even talking on this site…those managers wouldnt waste their time with you…you are probably one of the analyst or honary magazine writers he badmouthed and what he said about you stung soooooo bad you wanted sweet revenge will guess what I bet he knows you and if yuo did reveal your identity he would probably blow u out of the water again…. show me how u could turn a small account like 12,415 into anything going long on real companies? results matter…I dont see you on CNN, FOX, and tons others…im not trying to brown nose tim but im very skeptical person and his results are sound and I have begun trading the same way and am up %45 from 12,415 since april 9 2003…get a life dont you have a fund to be mangaing?

2 door Bob, I’ve been trading for 11 years and have never called it work, I love it. Plus its a fun way to make money to support my 4 teenagers.

    May 9th, 2008 at 1:34 pm

APWR - looks like a good short to me…
if it runs, you’ll just get stopped out quick…no biggie
if it fails, it’ll drop 2-3 points in a few days
