The Timothy Sykes / A Sponsor To Be Named Later College Tour 2008/2009

After testing out my out my public speaking skills at University of Arizona, Rutgers University, University of Minnesota, Baruch College and Options University’s Online Trading Expo and receiving loud rounds of applause, more than one standing ovation and some great feedback (which you can see below), I’m ready to plan a national speaking tour! Students from the University of Maryland and University of Florida have already contacted me, but I wanna make one massive list right here so I can show sponsors and be all organized…somewhat.
So, if you’re a college student, frat brother, president of college/high school organization, basically whoever is part of some big community whose minds I can warp, leave a comment below so we can put this thing together, either gonna be in Fall 208 or Spring 2009!
Here’s just a sampling of the many testimonials:
“Attracting a diverse crowd of students from the University of Minnesota with varying levels of interest in Finance, Tim’s story kept everyone on the edge of their seats and asking for more. His casual demeanor, hysterical life experiences, and avant-garde trading style were both eye opening and entertaining. Overall, students left feeling inspired and motivated to learn more about finance as a hobby and potentially a career. Definitely a breath of fresh in the world of investing.”
-Dan Rice, President, University of Minnesota Investing Club
“Tim Sykes was hilarious and entertaining. He had a few educational points during his presentation, but it seemed as though whenever he was beginning to get a little serious his true personality would come out and he’d make a joke about someone, some company, a religion, an industry, himself or a mixture of all of the above. Although jokes, most of the time they were actually bitterly honest and truthful statements about the finance industry that I doubt no other speaker would ever dare to say. But with Tim, he put it all out there and didn’t care what people would think. This event was definitely the highlight of our club thus far and I would be glad to have him back up here again.”
-Justin Kruger, President, University of Buffalo Stock Club
“We enjoyed your presentation and your unique view about the hedge fund industry and the microcap stock-world.”
-Kim Chayka, President, University of Arizona Investments Club
“Just wanted to let you know the speech was great, it was certainly refreshing to hear a different perspective especially since we’re so used to hearing from corporate drones.”
-Ross Leder, University of Minnesota
“You bring a whole enthusiasm and honest knowledge to trading that I’ve never seen before!”
-Joe R. Rutgers University

Looks good, do you have any offers to speak in the NYC metro area? I’d be all over that.
TimQuestion: In your opinion are all those massively overpriced sell orders in level II quotes potential short sells?
3timothysykes
May 7th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
I’ll speak wherever, NYC would be fine too..what sell orders?
Finished up $380 on the day, even as I was 15-20 cents off on an ideal short in VRML, another $200 to the poor timing TIM fund…still want under $3 tomorrow

Tim, are you going to put together a page with your upcoming appearance, once you get a few booked? Also, when you give these speeches, are they usually open only to students?

I meant the ASK, I don’t deserve a Timbuck for this post.

May 7th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
If you look at the bottom of the ASK listing (in level II) there are sometimes a few hundred shares for 1,000 or 99,999
I thought it was someone trying to take advantage of a market order or maybe a way the market makers lock in a range.
It’s something I’ve always been curious about.

What an awesome idea…Hope you come to Chicago TIM…And if there is anything I could do to further your chances of getting here let me know?…So many uninformed individuals when it comes to stocks, finance, etc…These topics should be taught in our high schools.

I still doing research and studying guys. Much props to you Tim . Market the hell out of yourself. Remember I’m the newbie in this game and I see the edge now. I’m still long, but stalking my first short. Just curious, have you ever had a job? I work during day so I’m limited. Everyone here should be on schedule for 6 figures or better.
Try not to spend it all in one place guys. I’ve got plans for mine!

Hey UFGemini-
Besides that, UF had a huge stack of Tim’s infamous Trader Young Money magazines outside the classrooms, so make it happen!

Sonid, IMRX and AIRN are earnings moves. Usually not a good idea to short those, although tempting based on the charts

I know …but AIRN missed, and looking at the horrific chart it doesn’t look like anyone is looking to ride this pony up that mountain

Tim, you definitely need to come to UCLA to speak. I’m part of a professional business fraternity here at UCLA and you’ve been a great inspiration to me, and it would be great if you came here to inspire others as well. I’m friends with you on facebook actually (name: Jonathan Bryant ‘Jono’ Lee) so if you are interested just message me or email me. Thanks!

Watch UTEK carefully tomorrow, if drops below $14 can be an easy $1 downside (perhaps to form handle of its cup). But then, if it crosses over say $15.10, it may see $1 upside.

Tim you should incorporate your live trading as part of your speaking. Hey, why not make work & learning part of your presentation? everyone would benefit to hear you drop a few F-bombs while the action is happening. by the way, what other schools are actually teaching what they preach? that’s why your site is so important to the rest of us following your rise to $2M!!!!

jj, i think trading while having those speeches isnt a good idea for tim. it would put him under plenty of pressure to trade and probably people will be disappointed if they happen to see the one loss that tim has once in a while rather than the constant profits.
41jj(TIMBUCKS: $76)
May 8th, 2008 at 9:30 am
all the more reason I think he should…look Oliver, losses are part of the bigger picture. Tim discusses being completely transparent. where else have you seen ANYONE, willing to show you openly & honestly what the rest of the industry is hiding? that’s why I think it would make real world sense to show it like it is.

Tim-
I am writing from the west coast (Bay Area). Will you be making your way out to the west coast? If so, our school/business club is looking for a motivational speaker. Please let me know if this will be a possibility!

Timmer… Vancouver, BC.
UBC (University of British Columbia), SFU (Simon Fraser University); they’re both majors collegs in this beautiful city.
Would be great to hear you speak and do a shot of te-kill-ya or a jager-bomb with ya at the after party.
