15 Low Priced Stocks: Buy & Short Sell Some, Avoid Most, Despise Them All!

Tags: Breakouts, Charts Rock!, Hot Stocks, Manipulation, Pattern Day Trader Rule, Potential Plays

First, let’s get the fun / useless guessing game contest over with—with YHOO’s $24.37 closing price, there were 2 winners: Ann-Nan Lo $24.50 and DarkMatter $24.24—congrats guys! (UPDATE: Ann-Nan Lo has been disqualified cuz her winning guess was her second…wow, my readers are on top of things!)

Now to business, stocks with predictable charts—doubt any of these topics will get 200+ comments, but gimme a few years to set you straight. Tons of plays, gonna be handicapped yet again by the SEC pattern day trading rule—all that handicapping inspired me to write one hell of a post, which I gotta vet with a lawyer…

VNDA
Yes its bounced, but its a ton off its highs and it’s an earnings play, still watching it, doubt I’ll have the buying power to touch it, f$#@ you SEC!

LGDI
My top play for today, made $350 ayer, look to make more if and when it cracks $4.40 to the downside, could / should move fast when it cracks as that’ll put it slightly down on the day, potential to go all the way down to $4, then it’s a game of whether or not stop losses can get taken out, $4.05-$4.10 if it holds, $3.60-$3.70 if it doesn’t…and this is all of course after the probable / hopeful morning short squeeze View definition in a new window, which could / should retest highs, pleaseeeeeeee…game of chess baby, I don’t know how to play, only game I know is PennyStocking where you gotta think a few moves ahead!

SUNV
Kills me I didn’t short into yesterday’s spike, read my twitter message about it (Follow me on there to get quick messages like that), I was all set! That calls for my second f$#@ you to the SEC in as any minutes.

FEED
Lesson in why you don’t scalp these range bound suckers, use my friggin experience to your advantage you dumb Jews!

LLNW
Lionmaster pick, respek!

CHCG
Fous pick, check it!

PKT
You call that a runup, c’mon gimme some more, yo spliff where the weed at?

MVL
Sometimes the obvious stuff works, congrats longs, anybody seen the movie, c’mon gimme some reviews

IDMI
I will not short random penny stocks, I will not short random penny stocks, I will not short random penny stocks, I will not short random penny stocks, I will not short random penny stocks

MNKD
Everybody’s talkin’ all this stuff about this stock, why can’t they just focus on volatile stocks, tell me whyyy

GETC
Now that’s a stock worthy of me showing off its chart, still not up enough to short, shoulda coulda woulda had the balls to buy in

SKNY
Big big big reversal day, of what 7 cents? This is why you don’t short stocks low, too bad the price wasn’t multipled by 10, cuz then it coulda woulda shoulda actually gone down 50 cents tomorrow instead of the probable 5.

UTVG
Another worthy chart…getting close to resistance at $3

VRML
I saved my #2 pick for today near the bottom so those lazy mofos won’t see it and reserve shares to short…it’s not special, I don’t even need to refer to this company directly, I can just summarize by posting three tickers: REED, PSTI and VION…comprendo?

GTXO
Another up and comer to keep an eye on

on MVL - The movie was awesome as I predicted it would be. Robert Downey is the perfect Tony Stark and with solid acting from the rest of the cast, Jon Favreau at the helm, and amazing visual effects…this is a hit. $100+ million at the box office. I bought MVL at $29 last Tuesday. Volume still looks good and Hulk comes out later so this should be a winner this summer. read the post on my blog about it.

Got 1K LGDI and 1K VRML locked up as well, same here with not enough BP to borrow as much as I want. Looks like VRML is gonna gap up.

LGDI, quick 20 cent tank, but i wouldnt be surprised to see one big spike worth shorting into

I’ve played CHCG many times…looks like a buy if it breaks $2, but I don’t really think it will, rumors are they are going to be reporting bad earnings yet again…

Tim, I can not wait until 25-30K when we have the balls to hold these and follow the damn pattern that seems to do the same everytime. LGDI the latest stock to continue the fall the day after.

  15. 15GoodeValue.com

    May 6th, 2008 at 9:44 am

Investorslive - I assume you meant KYUS and not MXFD making highs? MXFD has been fading for a few days, plus it is irrelevant for everyone here–impossible to get shares to short.

  16. 16timothysykes

its not about balls, its about capital

  18. 18timothysykes

manhack read comment #7, there are reasons why i prefer shorting in the afternoon, this is a good example

  19. 19investorslive

Yes I meant KYUS sorry about that hahaa MXFD yes finally fading

    VRML still spiking

  21. 21Davey

    May 6th, 2008 at 9:57 am

VRML RTQ 3.65, this might be a better play going into the afternoon than LGDI if LGDI keeps falling.

  22. 22timothysykes

    May 6th, 2008 at 9:58 am

VRML sooo thinly traded, let it run, I still have y shares borrowed for the day, just in no rush to use em

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:02 am

    LOL VRML 4.70

  24. 24ivegotstylekid

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:02 am

RT dropped off they’re pre-market gain, along with VM. Covered both on my survivor acct today. 1.04/share with VM at 5000 shares, and .63/share with RT at 1000 shares. LGDI is jumping again 4.25 right now

  25. 25timothysykes

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:05 am

all about learning from your mistakes–when I stupid lost 4300 on that mxc traded i never wanted to do, i know to put my limits as high as possible–since my buying power prevented me from doing that on VRML, i just cancelled entirely, i can cal up my chat window and get them back anytime…great example

  26. 26Bob the VC

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:06 am

I’ve got 500 VRML reserved. Almost got my limit picked up on a spike! Damn I’m an amature.. I’ve moved the order a bit further out of range for now..

Tim- a quick request; When listing the stocks, can you go back to listing them as .OB or .PK as you did yesterday, so those of us with accounts that don’t allow shorting of those to know if we should even bother to look into them? That was very helpful.

  27. 27Ryan

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:08 am

Reserved 1300 shares of VRML to short at $5.01, if it hits there today.

  28. 28Michael

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:11 am

Anyone short VNDA yet? looks ready to crash

  29. 29Ryan

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:11 am

Just found out Ameritrade has as many shares of VRML to short even under $5, so everybody who has Ameritrade account can swarm there to short VRML.

  30. 30Davey

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:13 am

LGDI coming back a bit at 4.30 now

  31. 31Ryan

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:14 am

    Michael,
VNDA is not crashing yet. Even though there are plenty of sellers around $6 but there are lots of buyers around $5.50-$5.80 area on level II. I am also watching this one. Shoulda, woulda, coulda bought at open ($5.50) and dumped at $6 or above but just didn’t have balls:(

  32. 32Bob the VC

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:14 am

VRML- WTF? How do you even work with something that moves like this?

  33. 33Michael

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:22 am

Well Ryan I think by end of day VNDA will start its fade and tomorrow will be at $5.40 range

  40. 40Bob the VC

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:29 am

No, shorting, I just don’t want to enter to low, and I think we may see one more spike that could potentially pick up a $4.25 short limit.. Had I had ANY idea this thing would have gone this ballistic this AM, I would have loved to ridden it up and down!!

  41. 41ivegotstylekid

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:29 am

wait nm spike almost triggered your limit.

    May 6th, 2008 at 10:46 am

I don’t know why you’re all getting so excited about shorting VRML, this thing could spike to $6 or $7 or even $10, squeezing early shorts like u for the fun of it–remember, don’t short until u see the white of their eyes, otherwise you’re just shorting into random strong penny stocks, i write to protect u…memorize these 2 articles damnit!

I have never executed a short sell but I’m sick of losing $ all the time. I seem to be pretty good at picking losers so I want to try shorting. I just set up a margin account and am eyeballing both COMS and CPST. Do any experienced short sellers think these are solid choices?

I’m not shorting VM for intraday play. I’m looking at a slightly longer term of 2 - 5 days. This is truly POS stock. I see some resistance at 3.38. If it breaks down at this level, then it will surely tank.

MARK - well done man, I been trying to use tim’s methods for a few months now but unfortunately I haven’t had the best luck. I was wondering if you wanted to team up and be trading buddies it should be much easier to get things right, obviously we would make our own final decisions but might be worth it, whatdaya say?
