Parabolic Stock Chart Of The Day: Unisource Energy Corp (UNS)
Overworked as I’ve become, I really appreciate it when you readers alert me to some solid opportunities. Today’s chart of the day comes courtesy of InvestorsLive (see MarketKid, that’s how you link when you feature someone else’s idea on your blog!)

Rather expensive, fundamentally sound, tied to commodity prices and slow moving for TIM to play, nonetheless, I consider all surging stocks as potential shorts…just gotta be extra careful on this one as its managed to take out 9-month resistance, then again, it has gone parabolic so we could see some conso0lidation soon…

Wow, does your chart ever scream more of a no brainer than mine. That’s a good example of this: http://www.timothysykes.com/20.....ar-charts/
Keep up the great posting, this may keep bouncing around until it test 32.50 where people will start taking profits in fear of the worst…

Dang, shoulda coulda woulda bought around 25. How the heck do you identify charts like UNS BEFORE they make a move like that? Other than filling the early March gap, it is not like it had a clear breakout or anything to begin the move.

I was looking at the day view on UNS, which for some reason hasn’t updated in StrategyDesk.
On a side note I hope everyone at TDAmeritrade contracts genital warts.
I didn’t see it roll over at 33.49 which is right around my target short (which didn’t fire thanks to the soon to be wart covered peeps @ TDA).

I have to get away from them, go to TOS or some other short friendly broker. Stochastics are pinned, watch for a bounce.

Great heads up on FEED this morning, Like shorting UNS until it hits sub 30s. Did anybody else catch PGNX this morning and catch them on the rally…easy $$

April 24th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
well not kept going up, but what’s the point of entering that trade if you arent going for a bigger move than 80cents…

April 24th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Always a hater… 2 trades 32.80 to 32.56 = 240-14 = 225.00
32.49 to 31.95 = 540-14=526.00
I sure you did better today, Zykosis

everybody has their own comfort levels, never rip on anybody for doing a trade like this, just rip on them for doing random trades…this wasnt rando, congrats jack!

April 24th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
i’m not hating, it’s just why stop at 80cent profit on that setup. i mean, if you’re taking advantage of that setup, shouldnt you hold longer? it’s not like there was a vicious bounce or anything where you got out…
32Zykosis
April 24th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
and if it’s able to break that open, isnt the downward move going to be substantially larger ?
33Joseph
April 24th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
lol you guys are funny, why are you hating on the guy for taking profits? Maybe he had to go somewhere or do something…Relax Zykosis! just do better.
34timsykes
April 24th, 2008 at 3:23 pm
its not a setup for a multi $ fall, if it did tank, it’d only be $1-2, its a solid profit to take
35Brewster
April 24th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
I agree, $ is $
36Zykosis
April 24th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
you guys think i’m arguing, that’s even funnier. you’re too used to elitetrader or something. :)
(can’t there be a discussion about a trade? whether the person made money or not)
but we’re talking about high probablity setups that have LARGE downside. does this setup have large downside? if so, why not stay in?
37Jack is Back
April 24th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
For me it’s not about a “vicious” bounce. I set a price as to where I would like to cover or where I “think” resistance might be.
Gains r only good when they are locked in. In hindsight, sure I could have held to 31.6, but as the 5 day chart for this stock shows, it moves rather quickly.
And in closing, it is not a bad thing to play the middle of a trade. Greed kills, and I know first hand, I started trading at the school of hard knocks.
TY Tim… I am still giving u credit for bringing up this chart, even u didn’t think it was ready for the picking.

April 24th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
You called it a “dumb” trade

April 24th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
nah i was jsut curious what people’s risk vs reward was on that setup. MY EYES only see small reward. but wanted to see what other people saw there, and time horizon

I’m reading over the posts and realized I said sub 30s for UNS — typed faster than I could think I suppose — I’m covering this thing by the end of the day — looking for 31.60-31.70 but we’ll see what happends
