Screw April’s Fools Day: There’s Work To Be Done, No Time For Jokes

Today looks like a higher open, good—all these broker/bank peddler scum are announcing mammoth losses, but even they can’t screw up what’s turning out to be a perfect bottom at Dow 12k. To be more exact, a solid hold of Dow 11,700—the former 2000 high it took us 7 years to breakout of. Can you say perfect retest? Maybe too simplistic, but simple works. I’m just happy I bought VWELX in my retirement account a few days ago.

Here are some microcrapper runners, none of which are nearly as perfect or multi-day as yesterday’s batch, but let’s give em a chance to see what they can do. We’re equal opportunity short sellers here…

LEH up huge this morning even after the announcement last night about convertibles - seems like last night’s after hours was a ploy to add to the squeeze this morning.

ASTI watch for the short above 17.70

forget COT, i’m out at 3.61, i don’t like the big buy blocks, bad risk reward here, too slow moving, $130 loss doesnt hurt much

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:25 am

gary–u think COT is hard to spot, c’mon, i’ve been doing this for a decade

reed has too little volume for me to even look at, auy is a commodities play, i don’t touch that crap

  16. 16VIJAI

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:28 am

ASTI seems to be a good ride. SHORT just a bit ago and its going down.. What do you think is the exit point? I see $15.59

  17. 17Gary

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:33 am

Tim- I have been doing this for A FEW MONTHS!!! You have nothing on me!

j/k - Dont get your panties in a bunch! It’s funny how the market works. You can say one thing one way, then have to be read to play it the other way! Learning from YOU!

    It’s all about the Money!

So pissed this morning, tried to put on as ASTI short on the dollar jump and the scottrade platform was “experiencing problems”. What a piece of crap. Im switching to SOW.

  19. 19VIJAI

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:39 am

Gabec, I use Scott and don’t see any problem.. Whats your exit on ASTI if you short it ?!

Reshorted COT at $3.48 ….. just wait now ;-)

  22. 22GabeC

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:46 am

Thanks Tim. I will. VIJAI , well tim’s the expert but ASTI seems to me anyway like a good short for the next couple of days unless it closes high then time to jump ship.

  23. 23VIJAI

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:48 am

Gabe, I know TIM is the expert and busy guy too Since you are playing the game, i thought you have the game plan to exit. So just checking with you.. Whats expanation of SOW btw?

  24. 24Mike

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:51 am

Tim, what do you pay to borrow these micro cap stocks, aka microcrappers? What interest do you get on posted margin with TOS?

  25. 25timsykes

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:54 am

i pay nothing extra to borrow shares–no matter the broker, i never have, it’s a myth…interest isn’t more than a few dollars/month. welcome to beginning to understand how much BS misinformation there is out there

  26. 26GabeC

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:57 am

Hey VIJAI no prob. Anytime. SOW is whoops TOS. thinkorswim trading platform. my mistake.

  27. 27neswick

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:57 am

ITMN is up 20+% on phase 1b results, might be a good short later?

  28. 28steve

    April 1st, 2008 at 9:58 am

I found out last Friday you can’t short stocks under $5 on Scottrade :-(

I now have my thinkorswim account funded :-D

  29. 29VIJAI

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:02 am

Gabe, no problem. I will check it out..

steve, you are right. Scottrade has the limitation and its fine for me since I don’t like to play on stocks below $5 with less volume.

  30. 30InvestorsLive.com

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:05 am

neswick- i was just looking at ITMN but just not enough price movement on that one, if it spikes I may short it

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:28 am

how about PMII? Vol. is just gone compare to last several days and still up $.70 today.

  36. 36timsykes

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:30 am

neither gu nor pmii look good. what cliff do u see on GU buddy? its already tanked, got plenty of support in the $11 and $12s. next!

  37. 37GabeC

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:37 am

Really. Hrmm. Looking from the 5 day chart of GU. Friday has good support at around 12.50. Figured once it broke that it would still go down more. Am I mistaken?

  38. 38sneale17

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:38 am

what do you think of a possible COT short squeeze later?

  39. 39sneale17

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:39 am

nevermind, just looked at the chart again and i highly doubt it

  40. 40GabeC

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:40 am

Ahh maybe im playing it too long from the non volatile side. I see your point.

  41. 41Andrew

    April 1st, 2008 at 10:48 am

Looks like heavy support for COT at 3.25. If it cracks it could fall hard. Sneale what made you say possible short squeeze later?

  42. 42VIJAI

    April 1st, 2008 at 11:13 am

ASTI, seems to jack up now.. Is it still a sound play to stay in for the short or get out ?

  43. 43timsykes

    April 1st, 2008 at 11:49 am

GU spike, thats why you don’t stay short these things after they’ve dropped so much.

ASTI still hasn’t stayed red, u shouldnt think about shorting

  44. 44Ilan

    April 1st, 2008 at 11:51 am

    hey tim how about SNDK

  45. 45timsykes

    April 1st, 2008 at 11:57 am

who knowsa bout SNDK, thats a real company, i hate those…ask those 2 clown from wall street warriors, they supposedly did their research on it LOL

  46. 46Andrew

    April 1st, 2008 at 12:02 pm

Hey Tim, in the dvd you said you never want to be short in a bull market. Do the POS’s you look for not apply as much to that rule? If not, what type of stocks would you look for instead? Thanks.

  47. 47timsykes

    April 1st, 2008 at 12:05 pm

when the hell did i ever say never short during a bull market? my entire strategy is shorting! u just have to be more conservative

  48. 48Andrew

    April 1st, 2008 at 12:05 pm

Just to add, I’m not saying we’re there yet but if we ever do..

  49. 49sneale17

    April 1st, 2008 at 12:07 pm

I said that because I thought there was a lot more upside support that might rally. Buuut no, I decided that was not going to happen.

Thanks for the save on GU, I got out after the comment and before the spike. Learned a good lesson and make a good 5%. I’m happy with that.
