Zecco and FOX Biz Interviews And Some More Glowing Book Reviews

Tags: Book Reviews, Interviews, Podcasts, Press, Videos

Andrew Horowitz, wealth manager, the godfather of financial podcasting, aka “El Podrino” and author of beginners-must-read-or-else-you’ll-stay-stupid-forever book The Disciplined Investor and I will be talking about our different strategies for this bear market in a Zecco/BlogTalkRadio sponsored podcast fiesta next Thursday, March 20th, 5PM EST. It’s free to listeners—you can even ask us questions live—but there’s also gonna be a televised Pay-Per-View event, check with your local cable company. Tim Sykes bomaye!

Listen to the promo and register below so we can send you annoying reminders the day or two before the event and then harvest your emails FOREVA. (I’m kidding, there will be no harvesting… just reminding)

And after a somewhat ridiculous two-week wait, here’s my latest FOX Biz interview:

And, Tracy Coenen, author of the new book Essentials of Corporate Fraud thinks I’m an over-the-top character (yup, gotta make this boring finance crap fun!) and writes: “I recommend reading An American Hedge Fund. It’s a fun story and a pretty good read…it’s certainly worth it for the entertainment value…”

And just because the 2 most recent of the now 61 reviews on Amazon aren’t from authors, bloggers or greedy industry bastards doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be counted, promoted and spread around as if they were more entertaining than Spitzer’s sex scandal:

An American Hedge Fund is an inspiring read for anyone interesting in investing in, or trading stocks. Timothy Sykes explains in detail his path to creating wealth from an initial investment of a little over $12,000. He also explains his experiences in starting and operating a hedge fund. He puts it all on the line explaining the rules and regulations that govern the industry. And he’s not afraid to tell it like it is. An American Hedge Fund is definitely a “Buy” “Buy” “Buy.”

“As I read through “An American Hedge Fund“, I realized that not only was I getting a great education in short-selling stocks, startup hedge funds, and the behind the scenes world of the finance industry, but I was also learning about the psychology of trading. Timothy Sykes takes you on a roller coaster ride through his life experiences and his successful and unsuccessful trades. You begin to really feel the joy as well as the pain that Sykes goes through after each of his trades and you notice a maturation process that gradually occurs after a lesson is learned from each trade. The reader definitely grows alongside the author as new terms and strategies are introduced. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am going to recommend it to my members of my investing club.”

And, just in case that didn’t seal the deal, take a look at these 100+ reviews from people who aren’t actually college students.

out at $12.50, horrible exit, but so what–we’re talking 10-15 cents more….whooo hoooo. i don’t trust this market and the risk reward on this trade isn’t good for TIM, i really gotta focus on lower priced breakouts, i simply don’t have the patience to hold these illiquid higher priced stocks

Scottrade had COIN to short today, I had a limit order and it did only partial fill as COIN dropped quickly from $11.75 level never looked back. Later when I wanted to short at even lower price shares were not available. $10.35 is 50 DMA, it almost reached that. I covered half of the position at $10.55, waiting to see if someone will sell at $10 to cover the rest of the position after hour. However, it seems like it will have a downtrend another buck - buck and half (resistance at $9 level). We shall see.

u suck tim. You trade like a girl. i wonder how u ever made 2 million. u sell .10 from your entry. y dont u daytrade large cap stocks that move dollars at a time. u could atleast make a living off trading. but now you’ll say that you already make a living off bullshitting the crowd. i think people are better off trading with danny zangher or the lionmaster from thelion.com. atleast they make calls and stick to them..

Darn, I placed an order at 12.50 but TD doesn’t allow any open orders for FEED. Do you guys buy on market orders?

Jim, here’s a tip, just follow my calls and do the sticking to them yourself. if u did any DD, you’d see my book, blog, DVD and nearly everything i say should lead u to believe u can do better than me. take my ideas and run with them, be the trader i never could be, blah blah blah get the point yet?

UPDATES

May 16, 2008

10 stocks to watch today

PDO already up $1.25, sux I'll be away all morning workin' on TIMtv, got 500 shares reserved to short if need be this afternoon

Also reserved 3,000 FORC and KYUS for potential shorts

May 15, 2008

Yup, by next Monday, everything's gonna be real working-like!

May 15, 2008

PDO, up $4+ today, will teach you not to randomly short strong penny stocks, get in, get out then run...cuz sometimes they squeeze stubborn shorts to death!

May 15, 2008

No ideal short plays today, check out these 2 interviews while we wait for price action perfection

I wish I'd listened to my own rulebook, instead got squeezed for $400 shorting blatant-fraud KYUS too early...someone needs a refresher course this weekend!

I nailed NCOC's 20% rise today in my pre-market post, but I was too biased against buying little breakouts, learn from my mistakes!
