The Real Wall Streeters: Howard Lindzon

Tags: Interviews, Real Wall Streeters

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! ‘Tis the season to talk about what we’re thankful for—this year, I’m most thankful for the audience my wild journey has provided me with and stock blogging. That’s right, books and TV are great sources for edutainment, but it’s only through daily stock blogging that I’ll really be able to teach people about responsible financial speculation, the stock market and all the stuff that goes along with these fun subjects. I mean how else would I be able to share the details of soooo many stock trades to sooooo many in such an easily categorized and searchable fashion.

So, I’m proud to announce a new blog category for TimothySykes.com in which I’ll be posting interviews with the real Wall Streeters. I think you’ll be surprised to discover who the real movers and shakers are–and this knowledge should help you better understand the wonderful world of finance.

I recently caught up with the ever bustling, one of the godfathers of stock blogging, creator of the revolutionary WallStrip , hedge fund manager, venture capitalist and blogger extraordinaire , Howard “The Man” Lindzon.

You seem to have your finger on the pulse of the financial blogging world—where do you see it heading?
Financial blogs left alone by mainstream media will continue to explode. Too many bright people with something to say. Like comics, just with money on their mind.

Why are you so obsessed with stocks making new highs?
Because it works. Small investors face less friction in strong stocks. They need to have good money management, but buying lows is for the real pros. I think there are two of those people on earth.

You have a lot of cool venture capital investments—which one/s are you most excited about?
Golfnow.com and Lifelock in my portfolio are the most satisfying and I am happy to be involved.

What are your Thanksgiving plans? Give us your three favorite Thanksgiving dishes.
I just started a diet so water, water and turkey, no sauce. I have traveled non-stop this year with CBS, Wallstrip and my fund so just hanging out in 80 degree Phoenix weather for the week. Maybe some golfffff.

Do you ever feel the urge to just cash out and go live in Hawaii or something?
I have urges to live in New York for a while with my family. Hawaii no way.

Can you give us three solid stock market rules to live by?
1. Stay in the Game
2. Avoid derivatives, options and short selling View definition in a new window
3. Always be invested. Pick an exposure level you are comfortable with. Don’t time the market. I wish I lived 100 percent by that rule.

Tim Sykes on Wallstrip—long or short?
You are basing, backing and filling. Don’t rush it and when you breakout

…sure!
