Let’s Begin
Posted by Timothy Sykes on Fri 5th of Oct, 2007 08:02:06 AMOk, you’ve all heard me bitch and moan about the lack of transparency on Wall Street so let the healing begin. I’m going to start posting all my trades, thoughts on the market, stock picks, ramblings, everything–feel free to comment, argue, whatever as long as the debate can be entertaining and informative.
Since I’m still transitioning from being a hedge fund manager to a m
arket commentator/independent trader, it’s going to take me a few days before I can really start start revving up my trading again, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t many opportunities right now.
If you’re a subscriber to Realmoney.com, you’ve read my recent articles on CHNR, JRJC and now CRDC. All three of these stocks are in play as they offer some great liqiduity and volatility.
CRDC could be the next ISRG and it just broke out to an all-time high today at $12 and quickly surged to $14. They are both in the next generation surgery sector so even if CRDC’s technology really isn’t that revolutionary, hype rules. Remember, BullShip moves stocks so even if you don’t believe in it, you must respect it. If the trading volume keeps up, this could go to $20 in a hurry.
JRJC has already quadrupled over the past few weeks and it should retrace some, but their business is so outstanding (as basically TheStreet.com, w/ premium subscriptions and now a brokerage under their belt, of China), their stock should perform amazingly well over the next few months and years. I’d like to see it base in the low to mid-30s and then sucker in tons of short sellers. Short sellers are actually beneficial here because if and when the stock breaks out to new highs, their short covering will be the fuel that could ignite this bad boy to the 70s or 80s.
I think CHNR is just an incredibly overvalued company here with little growth and potential, but it’s in play due to its low float (1.4 million shares) and the fact that it has “China” as part of its company name. Sure, there’s a chance it will continue to squeeze higher, but the company even came out and said that nothing’s changed This is a company that’s whose growth rate is around 10%/year as compared with over 200%/year for JRJC. And yet, both stocks have quadrupled from the $10 to the $40 range. Something’s gotta give soon and I think it’s gonna be CHNR’s stock price.
Long story short, I’m bullish on CRDC (short, medium and long-term) and JRJC (medium and long-term) and bearish on CHNR (short, medium and long-term).
Now, don’t go trading based on this pathetic excuse for an overview as these three stocks are volatile as hell and will continue to be so for the next few days and weeks. Just watch them, see how they move because their price action is no different than the thousands of stocks that created my wealth and it’s through this kind of action that you’ll see there are times where it’s possible to predict how a stock will act over the next few minutes and hours…and it’s at these moments when you should trade these stocks, whether long or short. Teaching you how to do this with as little risk as possible is my new goal in life…
Here’s my commentary from RealMoney.com
Please note that due to factors including low market capitalization and/or insufficient public float, I consider CHNR, JRJC and CRDC to be small-cap stocks. You should be aware that such stocks are subject to more risk than stocks of larger companies, including greater volatility, lower liquidity and less publicly available information, and that postings such as this one can have an effect on their stock prices.
